Through a mode change, the Cuadro mode that is mainly for shooting and piloted by Koichi can be switched to the Reverso mode that is specialized for melee combat and piloted by Tsukasa. This allows the Gunpla to fight with completely different battle styles even though it is a single unit.

ASW-G-08 Gundam Barbatos Lupus Rex (ガンダムバルバトスルプスレクス?) is the main mobile suit featured in the second half of Mobile Suit Gundam IRON-BLOODED ORPHANS second season. It is piloted by Mikazuki Augus.

The Gundam Barbatos Lupus fought a fierce battle against the Hashmal in the vicinity of Chryse, a city on Mars and was so severely damaged that it was sent to the Saisei's MS workshop for a major upgrade. Data sampling of Barbatos Lupus’ fight with Hashmal was also conducted during the overhaul. To match the combat data of Mikazuki Augus, who was increasing his compatibility with the mobile suit through the Alaya-Vijnana System, the machine's response speed was increased to the limit of its theoretical value. Movement of the frame's joints were also delicately tuned to match the pilot's actual sensations. The suit's cockpit hatch was changed from its predecessors' top opening method to a front opening style in consideration of Mikazuki's worsened disabilities.

The Strike Freedom's DRAGOONs are based on the ZAFT's second generation DRAGOON System, which does not require pilots to have high spatial awareness to effectively control them due to the use of an improved quantum communication system among other enhancements. Other unique modifications were also added, and due to the huge amount of data processing required, the Super DRAGOON System can only function at its maximum potential when used by the Ultimate Coordinator, Kira Yamato. The DRAGOONs can be used in group formations for multiple barrages, or used with other of the suit's weaponry to shoot down enemy ships or mobile suits.
