Review Daban 8816 MG 1/100 Gundam Astraea Type F, Daban Model

In December 2020, the Daban model released the Daban 8816 entitled MG 1/100 Gundam Astraea Type F. What are the advantages and disadvantages? following my review.

Design

Daban 8816 MG Gundam Astraea Type F carries the Metal Build version. Where the availability of the cockpit is removed and the shape is slightly tapered on each side.

Box-Art

Daban 8816 is a large writing right in the middle of the black box containing the MG Gundam Astraea Type F. In addition, there is only 1: 100 small text just below the right of the 8816 text. Quite simple for a Box-Art model kit design.

Snapfit

Daban 8816 MG 1/100 Gundam Astraea Type F

The quality of Daban's snapfit and assembly is well known to many modelers. It is quite hard in the installation process and there will also be some incompatibilities between one part and another, so it requires a little treatment to get it installed properly. For example sanding the male Peg or widening the female Peg parts. And also sometimes it takes skill to make additional parts that are defective.

Finishing

The inner frame of the MG 1/100 Gundam Astraea Type F Daban 8816 uses the overall steel color.

For the armor, use a medium gloss dark red color. For separation, the red armor is given a dark red metallic which is quite cool.

Unique things can be noticed in the Chin and Shoulder part of the MG Astraea type F Daban 8816, which was originally red given a metallic purple color. I personally think this is quite strange, huh, instead of using a metallic purple color, it's better for Daban to use a dark metallic red for this part.

The clear part for the front of the chest and the circles of the hands and eyes that should be green, the Daban 8816 instead uses a bluish green or closer to cyan color.

And for sharp weapons, such as the Proto GN-Sword's eye and the Avalung Big Sword's eye, Daban 8816 uses metallic bronze.

Content Set

In the sales package of Daban 8816 MG Astraea Type F, there are various accessories that are quite complete, or you could say very complete with cool additions.

In addition to the equipment from Gundam Astraea Type F, you also get 8 pcs of floating GN-Shield and 2 pcs of Avalung Big Sword. Not to forget, the Daban 8816 also includes a Standbase with a Metalbuild design.

The GN-Cables / GN-Particles Line uses 2 layers of material, 1 uses transparent elastic plastic and then a chrome sticker is attached.

Runner

The following is the complete runner and accessories and decal from Daban 8816 MG 1/100 Gundam Astraea Type F.

For a bootleg model kit priced at USD 40, the Daban 8816 Master Grade Astraea Type F from Daban Model is very complete. Especially in the weaponry section, which we get multi form floating shields and also the Avalung Big Sword. However, the lower standbase design that looks normal and also some of the missed colors (in my opinion) made by Daban 8816 makes it very strange, especially on the shoulders and chin which are metallic purple. And for that I can only give a value of 8.5 for this Daban 8816.
