XXXG-01S2 Altron Gundam
The XXXG-01S2 Altron Gundam, also known as Altron, Nataku, or Gundam Zero-Five, is the upgraded form of the XXXG-01S Shenlong Gundam featured in Mobile Suit Gundam Wing and New Mobile Report Gundam Wing: Endless Waltz. Piloted by Chang Wufei, the Altron Gundam represents a refined evolution of its predecessor, emphasizing close-combat efficiency and enhanced versatility. Maintaining its signature dragon-themed design, the unit embodies Wufei’s disciplined and aggressive fighting style while incorporating upgrades that improve both survivability and offensive capability.
In the Endless Waltz version redesigned by Hajime Katoki, the Altron Gundam retains its original concept but introduces notable differences in armament and structure. The iconic Dragon Fangs are upgraded into a dual system, now mounted on the forearms via folding block mechanisms rather than being integrated into the entire arm. This design ensures that even if the Dragon Fangs are damaged or destroyed, the Mobile Suit’s arms remain functional in combat. Additionally, the fangs are equipped with four small wings for enhanced control during deployment and can extend up to three to four times the arm’s length—significantly surpassing the reach seen in the TV version. When not in use, they can also serve as defensive shields.
Beyond its signature weapons, the Altron Gundam is equipped with head-mounted Vulcan guns and a powerful Twin Beam Trident, an upgraded version of the original Beam Trident. The suit is also capable of atmospheric entry using a parachute system, enhancing its operational flexibility. In New Mobile Report Gundam Wing Endless Waltz: The Glory of Losers, the Katoki version further expands its arsenal with the reintroduction of Twin Beam Cannons mounted on its back, reinforcing its role as a formidable close- to mid-range combat unit with balanced offensive options.
Bandai Plastic Model Gunpla Master Grade Mobile Suit Gundam Wing Series
The Master Grade (MG) Gunpla line from Bandai brings the iconic Mobile Suits from Mobile Suit Gundam Wing to life with exceptional detail, engineering, and scale. Designed in 1/100 scale, the MG series emphasizes both aesthetic accuracy and mechanical realism, often featuring intricate inner frames that replicate the structural concepts of real-world machinery. Kits from the Gundam Wing lineup, such as Wing Gundam, Deathscythe, Heavyarms, Sandrock, and Altron, are carefully recreated to reflect their anime and Endless Waltz redesign appearances, making them highly sought after by collectors and long-time fans.
One of the defining aspects of the MG Gundam Wing series is its advanced articulation and transformation capabilities. Many kits, particularly the Wing Gundam variants, include full transformation systems between Mobile Suit and flight modes, supported by sturdy joint construction and locking mechanisms. The use of color-separated parts, detailed panel lines, and included decals allows builders to achieve a high-quality finish without extensive painting. Additionally, signature weapons—such as beam rifles, scythes, tridents, and missile pods—are faithfully reproduced, often with added gimmicks like opening hatches or extendable components to enhance display options.
Beyond their visual appeal, MG Gunpla kits from the Gundam Wing series offer a rewarding building experience that balances complexity and accessibility. The snap-fit assembly requires no glue, while the layered construction of armor and frame provides insight into the design philosophy of each Mobile Suit. Whether you are recreating scenes from the anime or customizing your own display, these kits represent a premium tier of Gunpla craftsmanship, showcasing the enduring legacy of Gundam Wing within the broader world of model building.
