MG Daban 8817 RX-178+FXA-05D Super Gundam Review
Head Unit
The print on the front looks not so perfect, It looks a little flawed and not symmetrical in some parts. The articulation of the head is strong enough to hold the head so that it does not fall out of the neck when moved.
Body Unit
The open hatch gimmick is a bit hard to open the cockpit door, coupled with a very dragging hinge. On the right and left chest there are 2 green clear parts to protect the green foil sticker inside. Articulation on the backpack, especially the thruster, is very minimal, unlike the RG, which is a bit more flexible to rotate or made sideways.
Arm unit
The arm can be rotated 360 degrees and bent forward so that the forearm and upper arm can touch each other. This is because the basis of this Super Gundam is the MK.II Gundam which is quite reliable for its articulation. His hand uses a mechanical hand that has no articulation of the fingers.
Waist Unit
The rotation of the abdomen on the waist is blocked by the red part of the cockpit so that it cannot rotate properly, unless it is slightly raised at the joint of the stomach first. On the waist itself, the articulation is quite good, nothing to complain about this. Unfortunately, however, the rear waist armor blocks the movement of the legs so they can't articulate well enough.
Leg Unit
The leg joints are very easy to loose, and this is not good enough. The legs can form a 90 degree angle with the body forward, but cannot make an angle of less than 170 degrees backward. This is due to the rear waist armor which is fixed without any articulation or join. On the legs and feet there is a hydraulic gimmick that connects the two and can be moved up and down like real hydraulics.
FXA-05D G-Defender
There are many gimmicks offered by the G-Defender, starting from the stand-alone Flying Armor gimmick or as a backpack from Mk. II Gundam which later made it a Super Gundam.
In addition, additional weaponry from the G-Defender can also be used by Mk. II Gundam either with G-Defender as a backpack or flying Armor.
To unite the two is not difficult enough, you only need to remove the joint cover on the MK backpack. The II Gundam then attaches the G-Defender to the backpack.
Stand base
The stand has a unique design, like the launch pad for the Gundam. This part is also equipped with several gimmicks such as Space Crew, Pilot lift, and also a launcher pad that can be moved back and forth.
Summary
Gundam Mk. II and also G-Defender can stand alone or combined into one part. Coupled with a standbase with a cool design, this makes this MG 1/100 Daban 8817 RX-178+FXA-05D Super Gundam worthy of a collection.
Of all the things that are offered, Bootleg always puts forward low prices with a decrease in plastic quality. For plastic, Daban's current model is better than the previous Daban, however, it can't match the plastic from Bandai.
There are some parts left when finished assembling this, and that part is quite a lot. The skeleton part is currently very tight, and the structure is basically M. II. There is no harmony between the linkage and hydraulic pressure of each part. It can be regarded as a complete MKII 2.0 skeleton, and because of the good compactness, the whole skeleton is very good.
Stability, except that the hip joints are spherical joints like the original version of Stupid, there is basically no major problem. As for the head effect, it is probably as shown in the picture. The eyes are painted with complementary colors.
The stickers is not good to use. In particular, some people say that the antenna is crooked. In fact, This is because there is a bit of vacancy in the location where the antenna is installed, so when the installation is not correct, there will be problems with offset or crookedness, just put it right. The changes in the outer armor part are relatively large, mainly because some of the parts and details and the shape are different from the original version.
Whether you look at this or not, they have different opinions, but at least they are in line with the manufacturer’s customary magic change style. The most changes are It should be the face part, which is completely different from the original one. The combination of the skeleton is still good, but there are some places in the outer armor that need to be adjusted. The body part will be updated temporarily, and the aircraft will be updated later.
