The following is a review of Robot Spirit [SIDE EVA] Evangelion Unit 1 + Cassius Spear (Renewal Color Edition), a Robot Damashii action figure released by Tamashii Nation Bandai based on the original model of the Neon Genesis Evangelion.

Robot Damashii [SIDE EVA] Evangelion Unit 01 + Cassius Spear [ Renewal Color Edition ] Review

Evangelion Unit-01 (エヴァンゲリオン初号機[?], "Evangerion Shogōki") is the first non-prototype Evangelion unit, and is referred to as the "EVA-01 TEST TYPE". It houses the soul of Shinji's mother, Yui Ikari. It is mainly piloted by Shinji Ikari. Unit-01 serves as the flagship model for the series.

Head Unit

The colors are the same except for purple and green, so the eyes are the same. The modeling was originally good, so there is nothing to worry about this time as well. As before, a spare corner is also included. The gimmick that opens and closes the mouth remains the same.

Body Unit

The modeling is the same as the previous new movie version. As it is a renewal color, the purple color becomes darker and the green color changes slightly. The shape of the fuselage is the same. The colors such as red and silver did not change. The gimmick that the chest armor can move remains the same.

Arms Unit and Legs Unit

There is no change in this area except for the color.

Weaponry and Option set

There is no umbilical cable this time. Cassius's spear is the main weapon this time. A new handle is also added. Palette rifle is the same as before. Progressive knife is also the same.

Looking back at Shin Evangelion, the previous color was closer to the one in the play, but this time it was a color that matched the image.

Movability and Articulation

Originally it was made to specialize in movement, so this time it is perfect for that as well. You can also reproduce the movement of holding the spear low in the play.

It comes with a stand joint so it's easy to float. The waist can rotate about 45 degrees. The grounding property is also quite high. The handle is not angled, but the wrist joint moves well, so you can reproduce poses like poking. The impression that there was no pose that made me want to reproduce the battle with Unit 13 in the play so much. The same pallet rifle as before is also included.

This is an extra option for those who didn't buy the new movie version. The same applies to progressive knives. The 13th machine of the same ROBOT Damashii will be released in February, so we will face off with the 13th machine of Revoltech.
