Gundam Military Generation GMG 1/18 EFF 07 Amuro Ray & Frau Bow Review

Amuro Ray

The three-dimensional figure is wearing plain clothes, just like at the beginning. The size and construction of the joints remain unchanged.

Head

The level of reproduction for the regular face is not satisfactory, and it feels like a different person from Amuro. However, if it's a profile view, it looks somewhat better. The hairstyle has been relatively well reproduced. Another head with a screaming expression shows good reproduction.

In the photo, the black dot on the side of the nose is prominent, but since the head is small, it wasn't noticeable to the naked eye. Another head with a smiling face. It resembles a regular face, but the shape and position of the eyes and eyebrows are accurate, giving it a proper Amuro look.

Body

The costume is plain clothing from the beginning. Although it was small, the details such as wrinkles and the color of the denim fabric were well reproduced.

Arms and Legs

Due to its small size, the figure's joints may be more noticeable compared to larger-scale figures. The length and thickness of the limbs are maintained, but the limited space and scale of the figure can make the joints more prominent.

The small size of the figure often requires more visible joints to provide articulation and poseability. This is a common trade-off in figures of this scale, as the priority is to maintain the overall proportions and accuracy of the character while still allowing for some degree of movement.

While the joints may be conspicuous, collectors who appreciate the small size and poseability of the figure will likely find that the benefits outweigh the visibility of the joints. Additionally, careful positioning and posing can help minimize the prominence of the joints and create dynamic and appealing displays.

Frau Bow

Frau Bow is a fixed figure, just like Hamon in Ramba Ral. Since it is a fixed figure, the hands and feet are properly posed. In addition, the neck is a ball joint, and both shoulders are movable.

Head

While the figure may be small in size, it compensates with a high level of reproducibility and a cute overall finish. Despite its small scale, the figure manages to capture the unique hairstyle of the character without any noticeable discomfort or compromise in accuracy.

However, it's worth noting that there are no replacement facial expressions included with the figure. This may limit the range of expressions and poses that can be achieved compared to figures that offer interchangeable faces. Nonetheless, the figure's overall design and attention to detail still make it an appealing collectible for fans of the character.

Collectors who prioritize accuracy and cuteness in the visual representation of the character will likely appreciate the figure, even without the option for interchangeable facial expressions.

Body

The inclusion of Amuro's early stage clothes in the figure's costume adds a sense of authenticity and captures the character's appearance during that specific period. The fixed figure design allows for more intricate details, including realistic wrinkles and form, making the figure visually appealing.

The legs being fixed with a pedestal ensures stability and allows for easy display without worrying about balance. The removable bag held in the left hand adds an extra element of customization and can be adjusted or removed according to personal preference.

The attention to detail extends to the inside of the skirt, which has been accurately recreated, showcasing the level of craftsmanship put into the figure. The movable ball joints in the neck and the movable shafts in the shoulders enhance the figure's poseability and allow for a wider range of dynamic poses.

Despite the added details and articulation, the overall size of the figure remains consistent, maintaining the same scale as other figures in the series, ensuring visual cohesion when displayed with other characters.

Overall, the figure's design and construction demonstrate a focus on realism and attention to detail, allowing collectors to showcase Amuro's early stage appearance with accuracy and poseability.

Option and Accessories set

The inclusion of a dedicated left hand that can hold the Operation V file is a great addition to the figure, allowing for more dynamic and accurate posing. The file itself can be opened, adding to the level of detail, and the printed pages with Gundam explanations provide a nice touch.

The halo accessory adds a unique element to the figure, capturing the iconic visual of Amuro's psychic abilities. Additionally, the inclusion of a pistol, a common weapon used by soldiers in the series, adds to the authenticity of the figure.

The interchangeable torso parts allow fans to display the figure without the jumper, providing more display options and versatility. This feature enables collectors to showcase Amuro in different outfits or scenes.

The inclusion of a replacement left arm for Frau with a halo is a thoughtful addition, allowing fans to recreate scenes and interactions between the characters. It adds further value to the set and enhances the display possibilities.

Overall, the figure set offers a range of accessories and interchangeable parts that enhance the overall display and poseability of the figure, allowing fans to recreate various scenes and interactions from the series.

Movability and Articulation

The figure maintains the same articulation and range of movement as previous releases in the series, allowing for dynamic posing. The inclusion of a screaming face option adds to the versatility, allowing fans to recreate intense battle scenes, such as Amuro being attacked by a Zaku.

While the normal face may not meet some fans' expectations, the smiling face expression is well-executed and captures Amuro's cheerful demeanor. The figure set also includes a pistol, a common accessory in the series, adding to the display options. Additionally, the presence of Lal and Hamon enhances the overall value of the set.

For those who purchased the pre-ban limited set, a hood and poncho are included, adding another layer of customization. Despite being small, Frau Bo's figure is well-crafted and complements the overall set, allowing for display options alongside Amuro.

Overall, the figure set provides fans with a range of posing options and character interactions, making it a worthwhile addition to any Mobile Suit Gundam collection.

Summary

The GMG series has been steadily expanding its lineup, including various characters from the Mobile Suit Gundam franchise. The release of the main character, Amuro Ray, is a highly anticipated addition to this series.

While some fans may have hoped for a federal army uniform or a pilot suit, Amuro's plain clothes rendition is still well-executed. The figure captures his likeness accurately, with two additional face options that resemble his expressions from the series. The body shape and articulation maintain the high standards set by previous figures in the series.

Furthermore, the inclusion of Frau Bo, another important character from Mobile Suit Gundam, is a welcome addition to the set. Overall, the content and quality of the figure set are generally satisfactory, providing fans with a satisfying addition to their Gundam collection.
