Gunpla P-Bandai MG 1/100 RGX-00 Testament Gundam Review
Testament Gundam has been made into an MG kit. The price is 6,270 yen, and it will be available as Premium Bandai.
The manual is in color, but it is a simple one with no description of the Mobile Suit. The accessories include 2 handguns, Triceros Kai, gun handle, open hand, handle, stand joint, neck replacement parts, 2 saber blades, and 1 type of stand for the action base that does not use screws. It's the type of stand that is often attached to MGs, and it's a solid build that allows you to finely adjust the angle and has a lock. The stickers include foil stickers and water transfer decals that complement the twin eyes.
Since it uses the MG Mobile Suit Gundam SEED frame parts, there are some surplus parts. Additionally, the Divine Striker, which is added after capture, is also included in the kit. The color scheme is mostly red, but there are shades of red, making it a highly detailed kit that is typical of Mobile Suit Gundam SEED MGs.
Although the X-frame used in MG kits such as Duel Gundam and Strike Gundam Ver.RM is utilized, it gives the impression of being almost new. Moreover, the conventional frame used ABS, but this one has been changed to KPS. However, it remains unchanged that poly caps are used.
The color scheme of the kit is unique to MG, and the molding color is accurately reproduced. Yellow parts, such as chest ducts, have also been made as separate parts. Additionally, some parts of the armor, like the forearms, are open, allowing the inner parts to be seen.
A figure without the Divine Striker attached. There is a connector of the same type as Strike Gundam, etc., on the back, making it possible to replace the pack.
Head Unit
It has a helmet shape similar to that of the Astray series, but the yellow antenna is very long and prominent. The mask slit is open, giving it a fearless look.
There are clear parts around the twin eye. Additionally, this time there are two types of neck parts, and when replacing the pack with IWSP, it is designed to replace the neck part with a long black shaft.
Body Unit
The cockpit can be opened and closed on the chest. The yellow part of the chest duct is also made as a separate piece, adding a three-dimensional effect. There is also fine detailing on the back. The inside of the nozzle appears to be black, so if you are concerned about it, you may need to paint it.
Arms Unit
The shoulder armor is split without visible seams. The side armor is movable, allowing for unrestricted arm movement. The arms share a common frame, with only the thumb being movable at the wrist.
The rest of the wrist parts are interchangeable. The design features a stepped mold without visible seams, and a portion of the armor is open. A saber grip is included at the waist. It is securely fixed in place with a square dowel.
Legs Unit
The waist armor is fully movable and comes with backing parts. The hip joint axis allows for swinging movement. Certain parts of the leg frames have a Strike-like design, while the ankle heels provide a sleek impression. The knee armor functions when the knees are bent.
There are fin-like slits on the calves, adding a distinctive touch. And, as expected, these are also seamlessly designed. The ankles feature movable toes and lining parts.
Weaponry and Accessories Option Set
The Divine Striker is attached to the back, and the wing parts are deployed as shown in the image. There is a unique plastic model gimmick where the center part of the wing can be bent.
It is attached to the back using a folded frame. This frame has some visible seams. However, it can be flexibly moved, and the backside features engraved bellows-shaped detailing.
The Divine Striker can also be used as a claw, allowing the frame to be bent and rolled for increased versatility. Additionally, it can slide along the rail of the connection part, making it easier to deploy forward.
All the claw parts at the base of the striker can be independently moved. If you want to deploy it in a position similar to the Aile Striker, fold the claw parts as shown in the image. This will enable you to set the wings in the same position as the Aile.
The backside of the Divine Striker features fine mold detailing similar to the frame, and the nozzle part is also finely sculpted. There are also intricate details inside the round nozzle. The wing parts are solidly color-coded and have a structure that conceals any visible seams.
Movability and Articulation
Since the frame used for SEED's Strike Ver.RM, etc. is utilized, the range of motion is excellent. The waist can be moved left and right, and the shoulders can swing.
The lower body is slightly restricted by the side armor, but it can still be fully spread. The ankles have ball joints and provide good stability for normal posing.
The included stand is the same red color as the main unit, creating a sense of unity. However, the stand joint attached to the hip joint tends to come off easily, which can be dangerous. Therefore, I recommend using the U-shaped joint that comes with the action base for shooting.
By extending the frame, the Divine Striker can also be utilized as a large claw unit. Triceros Kai, equipped with a huge claw and featuring an ominous design, has silver parts with metallic molding color and multiple moving parts.
The folded shield part can be expanded as shown in the image. It is connected to a ball joint base, allowing for precise adjustments. Additionally, a handgun can be stored on the backside. Despite being a large armament, it is stably held due to the joint connecting to the forearm.
The base of the claw part can be moved with a ball joint and can also be bent at the center. The yellow claw on the side can be rotated, and the palm muzzle is also accurately reproduced.
The Triceros Kai is a fairly complex armament, but the armor can be finely adjusted with ball joints, making it surprisingly easy to handle. The fine movement of the claw is also a good feature.
I'm concerned about the weight due to its size, but for now, it can be held without any issues. It has been changed from ABS to KPS, which allows for smooth movement without a noticeable joint feel. The silver molding color is not very prominent, but there are some visible weld lines. The tip blade is removable.
Two handguns are included, and the provided handle allows for proper finger placement on the trigger. As it is Monaka, there is a seam, but it has been designed to be as inconspicuous as possible.
Even when the Divine Striker is equipped with the claw, there are no issues with holding it. The frame is simple yet sturdy. Two beam sabers are included, with a length typical for MG kits and clear pink blades.
As a unique plastic model gimmick, the wings can be expanded forward and bent to create an even larger claw. This results in a wider and more striking silhouette. Additionally, since the connector is universal, it is possible to interchange the striker pack.
The image shows a figure wearing Ootori, along with the MG Blitz Gundam that shares the same frame. While it may be slightly taller than the heels, the details and proportions provide a sense of unity.
Summary
Even though the frame was adapted this time, the material has been changed to KPS. The level of detail is remarkable, showcasing the uniqueness of the SEED series MG. Despite the switch to KPS, it doesn't give an overly fragile impression and holds the large Divine Striker and Triceros Kai securely.
Moreover, the included weapons are also distinctive. The Divine Striker, transforming from an Aile-like configuration to a massive claw, features an original plastic model gimmick that enlarges the claw using the wings. Additionally, the sinister-looking Triceros Kai has deployable shields and movable claws, adding to its appeal, even if it doesn't come with an extensive array of gimmicks.
