P-Bandai Gundam Base Limited RG 1/144 RX-93-ν2 Hi-ν Gundam [Titanium Finish] Review
RG Hi-ν Gundam [Titanium Finish] was initially released exclusively at Gundam Base. It was later made available on Premium Bandai. The price is 9,900 yen.
Accessories include a beam rifle, a new hyper bazooka, a shield, two saber blades, a right gun handle, a handle, an open hand, and a stand joint. The kit comes with realistic decals, similar to previous versions. Although surplus, some of the fin funnels used in the regular ν Gundam are included.
The previously released RG Hi-ν Gundam returns with a titanium finish. The white armor features a titanium finish, while the gold parts are matte-plated. The titanium finish imparts a beautiful luster and retains its sturdy feel. Additionally, the blue molding color of the frame and armor has been changed to a metallic shade.
Apart from the color scheme, the accessories and features remain the same as the standard Hi-ν. The Hi-ν's appearance is enhanced with silver accents throughout, and although its fin funnel isn't graded, it features linear coloring. The gold parts are matte-plated, serving as accent colors that stand out even more. Furthermore, the blue components are now metallic, resulting in a more vibrant appearance.
Titanium finish kits typically exhibit irregularities around the gates and marks at the gate locations. Most of the armor is undergated, making these imperfections relatively inconspicuous. However, not all parts are undergated, leading to some noticeable gate marks.
Head Unit
It features a sleek finish similar to the regular version, but there are rather noticeable gate marks on its antenna. The region around the head is particularly prominent, so if this issue is bothersome, considering a touch-up with white paint could be a worthwhile solution.
Body Unit
The waist armor boasts a generous volume, and its details are finely crafted, in line with RG's standards. Naturally, the V-shaped area has also been color-coded. The cockpit can be readily opened and closed, and the shutter part is adjustable.
In comparison to HGUC and older MG versions, the propellant tank has undergone a substantial enlargement, and the stabilizer now resembles the silhouette from prior refinements. The racks for the fins and funnels can be extended, with the thrusters at the ends moving in tandem with the outer joints.
The stabilizer is also capable of being fully extended. The vernier details and the rear surface of the stabilizer exhibit intricate design. Naturally, the funnel container doubles as a saber rack, allowing for saber placement and removal. While the propellant tank is designed to be seamless, there are some gate marks present.
In contrast to the traditional color arrangement found in graded types thus far, the fins and funnels feature linear coloring. Thanks to the titanium finish, the mold details on the rear are distinctly visible.
Arms Unit
The shoulder armor features an expanding gimmick. The machine gun on the right arm slides simultaneously with the barrel movement when the wrist is bent. The left arm can be opened and closed without necessitating the replacement of the saber rack, and the saber itself can also be detached.
Regarding the arms, a roll axis has been implemented at the elbow, allowing for precise adjustments. Furthermore, only the palm possesses a swing axis at its base. A rifle can be affixed to the rear armor, and the armor hatch can be operated to open and close. The inner components behind the armor exhibit impressive detail, showcasing a three-dimensional structure created using multiple parts.
Legs Unit
The waist can be swung forward upon unlocking it, and the hip joint axis also pivots downward. The legs are constructed without visible seams, and the surface gleams with the titanium finish. Moreover, the armor has been designed to synchronize with knee movements.
Matte-plated components are utilized for the knee cylinders. The calf thrusters have been meticulously recreated as separate parts. Naturally, the leg armor's deployment gimmick is retained, with the rear side, in particular, displaying an eye-catching expansion.
The toes are adjustable without necessitating the removal of the ankles. This level of refinement is exclusive to RG models.
Comparison with RG Hi Nu Gundam Regular
When comparing it to the RG Hi Nu Gundam regular version, the white sections boast a glossy finish, while the remaining parts showcase metallic hues, resulting in a more striking appearance. For a comprehensive evaluation of its movement and features, I recommend consulting the review of the standard version, as the articulation and functionalities remain consistent between the two models.
Weaponry and Accessories Option Set
Similar to the standard RG Hi-Nu Gundam, this version tends to lean backward if left as is, but the propellant tank can serve as a stabilizing support. A bazooka can be suspended beneath the backpack. While the parts are densely packed, resulting in a relatively heavy kit, the stand joint design, which attaches at the back, prevents the joint from easily detaching, unlike older MG models.
The beam rifle, although maintaining its beam rifle design, displays a metallic finish on its surfaces, apart from the white section. The part originally silver in color seems to remain unchanged.
The gun holder is exclusive to the right hand, yet it holds firmly. Despite the metallic gray frame, the matte-plated gold parts might have led to a desire for the silver components to possess the same matte finish.
Regarding the shield, there's been a change in molding color only, with the color coding pattern retained. Due to the brighter frame color, an overall impression of increased brightness is notable. The metallic blue also contributes to color changes depending on light angles.
The New Hyper Bazooka retains its telescopic feature and movable grip, just as before. The slight interference issue with the funnel container when carried on the shoulder remains unchanged.
While metallic molding color is an inherent feature, there are noticeable weld lines on the blue and frame parts. The kit includes two clear blue blades for the beam saber. These are standard sabers without added special effects.
Naturally, the fins and funnels are compatible with jet effects and similar accessories. Placing the kit against a white background while deploying the armor emphasizes its appearance. The titanium finish facilitates detailed observation, with the raised silver edge providing clear visibility.
Numerous points allow armor deployment and closure upon touch, yet, as of now, there isn't the capability for arbitrary closure. Combining with the black background and utilizing the RG fin funnel effect, introduced previously, can be achieved without modifications.
Since the instruction manual is common, the color recipe was also for the normal version.
Summary
Similar to previous kits featuring titanium finishes, the white components receive a titanium finish treatment, while the gold parts are matte gold plated. The blue parts and frame elements have been switched to metallic molding colors. Certain areas, like the antenna, exhibit noticeable gate marks, yet primarily adopting undergating minimizes the appearance of irregularities. The outcome is a stunning finish with the characteristic robust texture. Despite the original Hi-ν's intricacies and numerous gimmicks, this version remains manageable and avoids any sense of being overly intricate.
