P-Bandai Gunpla HGTO 1/144 RGM-79 GM [ Moroccan Front Type ] Review
The HG GM (Moroccan Front Type) kit, following in the footsteps of the Slegger aircraft, is now available for pre-order at the price of 2,200 yen on Premium Bandai. The packaging is simple yet elegant in monochrome, while the assembly instructions are straightforward. This kit comes equipped with various accessories, including a beam rifle, shield, beam spray gun (early model), gun handle, open hand, and saber blade.
In terms of customization options, surplus parts like the backpack and forearm allow for minor alterations to the kit's appearance. This GM, featured in the Mobile Suit Gundam Cucurrus Doan movie, differs slightly from the previously released Slegger boarding machine. It boasts unique features such as a shoulder cannon and a distinctive light gray and orange color scheme.
Despite being a kit, the HG GM (Moroccan Front Type) inherits the structural complexity of the Origin Gundam series, offering intricate divisions and details synonymous with the series. The inclusion of both foil stickers and water slide decals facilitates the enhancement of sensor details and aesthetics throughout the model.
Head Unit
Noteworthy differences from the Slegger machine include variations in head design, ear ducts, and jaw shape.
Body Unit
The fuselage also exhibits distinct chest details and cockpit hatch surroundings. The kit retains the V-shaped crotch design seen in the Slegger machine, and the backpack, akin to the Slegger model, features additional verniers and a shoulder cannon.
Arms Unit
The kit excels in articulation and includes a Gatling gun exclusive to the left hand. It also maintains the typical hip joint axis, allowing for a wide range of motion.
Legs Unit
The legs remain relatively unchanged, with knee armor that moves in sync with knee movements and articulated toes.
Weaponry and Accessories Option Set
Equipped with weapons resembling those of the Slegger machine, the HG GM (Moroccan Front Type) offers a seamless transition for those familiar with the previous release. The beam rifle, beam spray gun, and shield boast movable components and functional details, though some seams may be visible.
While the shield's design mimics that of the Slegger machine, it may require minor adjustments due to a potential handle issue. The beam spray gun, much like the Slegger variant, exhibits seam lines but retains a secure grip with holding dowels.
A unique addition to this kit is the shoulder cannon, not present in the Slegger machine, though its construction mirrors that of the Gundam series. The kit includes a standard-length beam saber, and while the grip may be slightly short, it accommodates dual-handed wielding.
For enthusiasts looking to expand their collection, combining the HG GM (Moroccan Front Type) with high-mobility Zaku ground versions, such as the Egba machine, provides an exciting opportunity for creative displays.
Summary
The HG GM (Moroccan Front Type) may share many components with its Slegger counterpart, but it distinguishes itself with its subdued light gray and orange coloring and intricate new parts, particularly in the smaller details. The addition of a shoulder cannon adds a new layer of excitement to this kit, making it a must-have for fans of the Origin series and collectors alike.
