P-Bandai Gunpla Metal Build LP204QX Lightning Striker [Alternative Strike Ver.] Review
This set of Lightning Striker parts includes a pedestal, support, and offers an independent flight mode. While the sculpt remains the same as the previous Lightning Striker, the color scheme has undergone a significant change, now primarily matching the Strike Noir.
Color Transformation
In terms of coloring, the parts that were originally yellow in the normal version have been transformed into a striking red, while the white components are now rendered in a subdued gray. This alteration results in an overall darker appearance compared to the original Lightning Striker.
Marking Updates
Notably, the markings on this Alternative Strike Ver. have also been updated to align with the new color scheme. However, the pedestal and joints remain consistent with the previous version.
Integration with Strike Noir
When combined with the Strike Noir, this Lightning Striker retains its stability, even though the main body is relatively heavy. The nose part seamlessly covers the chest, matching the colors perfectly, creating a harmonious and cohesive appearance.
Composite Weapon Pods
The Lightning Striker features large composite weapon pods on both sides, as well as an energy tank below. These pods have movable arms, and the tank boasts flexible joints. An electromagnetic cannon is attached to the arm, replacing the previous yellow lines with striking red ones, providing a distinctive and updated look. Additionally, the left and right electromagnetic guns can be connected, and their muzzle and rear sections can be extended. The cable connection gimmick remains consistent.
Deployable Pods
The deployment gimmick for the composite weapon pods (Hi-DEW) remains the same as the normal version. The energy tank is positioned in front.
Tail Part Mobility
The tail part of the striker can be moved left and right, just like in the normal version. This feature allows for versatile combinations with various aircraft, including Strike and Astray.
Color Scheme Evolution
While the nose part has transitioned from red to green, the other components have shifted to more subdued hues. Yellow has become red, and white has turned to gray. The main black color, once bluish, is now a simple black. These color changes provide an interesting contrast.
Strike Noir Affinity
The Lightning Striker truly shines when combined with the Strike Noir, as the overall black color scheme complements the Strike Noir's aesthetics perfectly. Electromagnetic cannon connections and shooting positions are seamless.
Sturdy Build
The holding power of the energy tank and other components is commendable, with no loose parts to worry about.
Summary
In conclusion, the METAL BUILD Lightning Striker (Alternative Strike Ver.) retains its core transformation and combination features from the normal version. However, the substantial color transformation, including the shift to a dominant black scheme, red accents, and updated markings, gives it a unique and refreshing appearance. Its compatibility with the Strike Noir is a standout feature, making it an excellent addition to any Gundam collection.
