Bandai Gunpla HGCE 1/144 STTS-909 Rising Freedom Review
The HGCE Rising Freedom Gundam is an exciting addition to the Mobile Suit Gundam SEED FREEDOM movie lineup. This model kit, priced at 2,640 yen, boasts an array of accessories and features that set it apart in the Gundam universe.
Accessory Arsenal
The kit includes a high energy beam rifle, Flash Edge G-3 sealed beam boomerang, two Versina beam saber blades, left palm, stand joint for MA form, infictus beam shield effect, and shield boomerang effects. Surprisingly, there are no surplus parts, ensuring a focused and clutter-free assembly.
Color Coding and Stickers
The extensive use of stickers, including foil stickers, complements the detailed color coding of the white lines on the wing, nose section, and rifle. The stickers play a crucial role in enhancing the overall aesthetic appeal of the model.
Design and Inspiration
Rising Freedom is a kit inspired by the movie "Gundam SEED FREEDOM," releasing this week. Drawing operational data from the Strike Freedom and incorporating Orb's variable technology at Murasame, it shares a resemblance with Freedom but features distinctive elements like the "Super High Impulse Cannon Sturmswacher."
Construction and Articulation
Employing the latest Gundam model construction techniques, the kit avoids the use of polycaps and ABS, relying on KPS joints. The seamless integration of joints and stepped molds results in nearly invisible seams. The kit's play value is heightened by a transformative MA form, offering a unique and engaging experience.
Detailed Appearance
The detailed appearance includes a head resembling Strike Freedom but with evolved features. Clear parts enhance the twin eyes and front camera, while the chest and front armor showcase meticulous separation. The backpack's versatility allows easy integration with other packs.
Wings and Articulation
The wings, a hallmark of Freedom series, can swing and rotate, showcasing Hi-Mat mode. The "Ultra High Impulse Cannon Sturmswacher" adds a unique touch, and the wings' independent movement provides flexibility in posing.
Weapons and Articulation
Equipping Rising Freedom with weapons reveals a high energy beam rifle and Flash Edge G-3 shield boomerang. The kit excels in articulation, allowing dynamic poses, and the transformation into MA form is a noteworthy feature.
Transformation Gimmick
The transformation into MA form is straightforward, involving nose elevation, wing deployment, and attachment of a combined shield and rifle. While simple, it adds an aircraft-like feel without compromising the overall integrity of the model.
Step by Step Transformation into Mobile Armor Form
First, stow away your handheld weapons. Lift your head and gaze upwards. Pivot the nose of the backpack forward and position it over your head.
Extend the wing on the nose section. Move the wing binder connection base and adjust its position downward. Simultaneously, elevate the blue thruster part and fine-tune its position. Insert the joint parts into the action base connection hole in the crotch.
This joint part enables horizontal display. Fold your ankles and raise the wing at the back of the shin. Extend the red protrusion of the shield boomerang and affix the beam rifle to the center. Suspend the weapon using the joint. Completion of MA form!
Comparison
In a size comparison with HGCE Impulse and HGUC Gundam, Rising Freedom holds its own as a standard-sized model.
Summary
The Rising Freedom Gundam offers a well-made kit with evolved articulation, allowing enthusiasts to savor various gimmicks and pose it boldly, making it a standout addition to the Gundam universe.
