This review covers the METAL ROBOT Tamashii S Gundam with the Booster Unit attachment. The sculpt is the same as the previously released normal S Gundam, but this time it features a deeper blue color for the Another Version. However, the actual color differs significantly from the sample photos.

Head Sculpt

The head sculpt, carried over from the Ex-S, remains excellent, with no notable issues. The lines on the mask are slightly thicker than before, but the meticulous paintwork on the eyes and other fine details is impressive as usual.

Body Design

The body design is consistent with the previous release. While the sample photos depicted a lighter blue, yellow, and red color scheme, the actual colors are more standard. There are no significant changes to the arms and legs, although there are noticeable paint splashes on the right shoulder.

Articulation and Gimmicks

The articulation and gimmicks remain the same, with sliding shoulder armor and interchangeable wings on the shoulders. The stabilizer, beam cannon, and waist parts also retain their previous mobility.

Booster Unit

The booster unit includes various components, although the MS Girl parts from the previous release are not included this time. The booster unit set, which was previously sold separately, now allows for the Bst configuration. The color of the booster unit remains unchanged.

Beam Smart Gun

The Beam Smart Gun, including the extendable barrel and movable radome, retains the same design and features as before. The multi-shot version of the Beam Smart Gun also maintains its previous gimmicks, such as the extendable barrel, movable bipod, and articulating grips.

Additional Features

The set includes cables and relays for the INCOM system. Combining the booster unit, S Gundam's backpack, and Beam Smart Gun allows for automatic flight mode, which is quite impressive in size and presence.

Combination with METAL ROBOT Spirits Zeta Plus C1

The METAL ROBOT Spirits Zeta Plus C1 can be combined with this set to create the Hummingbird configuration. This involves replacing the limbs of the Zeta Plus with the booster unit and propellant tank, which is a somewhat complex process. The new parts specific to this configuration are included, and the assembly instructions are provided in the official manual.

Color Discrepancies

While the deeper blue color of the Another Ver. offers a different appeal, the actual color differs significantly from the sample photos, which showed a lighter shade. This discrepancy is disappointing, especially for a high-priced item like this one (30,250 yen).

Summary

The METAL ROBOT Tamashii S Gundam with Booster Unit retains the quality and features of the normal S Gundam while offering a new color scheme and the previously separate booster unit. Despite the color discrepancy, the product still delivers a satisfying experience due to the excellent original sculpt and the comprehensive set of features and gimmicks. However, the significant difference between the sample photos and the actual product is a notable downside that Bandai should address in the future.
