Bandai Gunpla Model MS Mechanical Bust 06: ZGMF/A-262B Strike Freedom Gundam Type II Review
This review covers the MS Mechanical Bust 06 ZGMF/A-262B Strike Freedom Gundam Type II, focusing on both the colored and mechanical clear versions of the outer shell.
Colored Outer Shell (Color Ver.)
The design is almost identical to the fourth edition of Strike Freedom Gundam, with some changes in the molding color. The antenna is deployed in a disruptor state, the chest's dark blue is nearly black, and the gold frame is slightly brighter.
Mechanical Clear Outer Shell
Unlike the normal Strike Freedom's clear version, which had a colorless transparent outer shell over the gold frame, this version features a clear yellow outer shell, creating a unified yellow color scheme.
Internal Mechanism (Luminous Unit Included)
Visually, there are almost no changes other than the molding color. As usual, the luminous unit can be inserted into the hollow sections of the chest and neck to light them up. Only one unit is included.
The normal Strike Freedom's unit emitted colorless light, whereas this new unit emits a strong yellow light, significantly brighter than before.
Using the normal unit, both the head and chest can be illuminated simultaneously.
Color Version with Internal Mechanism
When the color version's outer shell is attached to the internal mechanism, ducts and the main camera, which would otherwise be hollow with just the color shell, are fully covered, completing the look. The torso frame changes from gold to black.
The luminous unit's stronger light made the previously weak eye lights look much better.
Clear Version with Internal Mechanism
The clear version's outer shell now features color, drastically changing its appearance compared to the normal version.
Comparison and Conclusion
The differences with the fourth edition normal Strike Freedom are the antenna design, chest color, and frame molding. Including some elements from Proud Defender on the back would have added an interesting twist.
Summary
While the only differences from the normal Strike Freedom are the antenna design and some molding colors, I decided to purchase it thinking there might be more SEED Freedom-related items in the future. Despite being mostly the same as the normal Strike Freedom, the clear outer shell's new colors significantly change its look. Additionally, the luminous unit included with this version is brighter, enhancing its illuminated appearance. Due to the popularity of SEED Freedom, it sold out quickly in local stores, so I had to buy it online. If you're interested, it's best to purchase it early.
