The MG 1/100 Re-GZ Custom, masterfully customized by the Gunpla builder @gunpla_tokyo, stands as an exemplary model of unique modification and intricate detailing.

The Re-GZ Custom MG was completed as the first finished model of early 2025. In an effort to fully bring out the coolness of the Re-GZ Custom, various modifications were made to the kit. Below is a record of the changes, as far as can be remembered.

Main Body (Green): Ice Green 90% (Gaia) + White 10%
Main Body (White): Blue FS15050 (Creos)
Red: Flame Red (NAZCA)
Yellow: Mandarin Orange (NAZCA)
Inner Frame: Mecha Surfacer Heavy (NAZCA), German Gray (Tamiya)
Sensors: Clear Green + Fluorescent Green Yellow
Dual Eyes: Fluorescent Blue Green + Clear Green

Maintaining the distinct style of a transformable unit while ensuring proper balance proved to be a challenge.

Modifications

Head: The position of the "tongue" was lowered, and the upper part of the cheek guards was extended using plastic square rods to create a preferred facial look. The blade antenna, which seemed too long, was shortened and sharpened.

Torso: The waist was extended by 3mm, which also required an extension of the cockpit hatch. The hinge inside the upper part of the hatch was repositioned to create a cleaner look around the neck. The sensor on the right chest was newly built using plastic sheets. The front waist armor was extended and reinforced.

Arms: The lower part of the shoulder armor was extended using plastic sheets. The upper booster (?) was also enlarged. To maintain balance with the extended legs, spacers were added at the shoulder joints to lengthen the arms.

Legs: The ankles were extended by about 2mm using plastic sheets. To prevent the lower body from appearing too slender due to the leg extension, the thighs were reinforced and lengthened, and the knee armor was enlarged. Inspired by NAOKI’s post, the color of the soles was changed for contrast.

The amount of detailing was kept at a personal preferred balance—simple yet effective.

Final Adjustments

Front & Rear Views: The backpack's purple was toned down by adding gray for a more subdued appearance.
Box Art Style: Adjustments were made to resemble box art aesthetics.
Weapon Modification: The AK-47-style beam rifle was recolored from brown to khaki.
