The Lightning Buster Gundam is a custom take on the Buster Gundam, built to match the creator’s personal vision. This version features refined proportions, a reworked head and shoulder design, and the addition of a powerful combined cannon. The goal was to create a sleeker, more dynamic version of the classic Buster, with a sharp silhouette and improved articulation.

Several modifications were made to enhance the overall look. The twin-eye unit was scratch-built, and the mask and chin were reshaped for a more defined facial structure. The antenna was extended for added intensity. To balance proportions, the torso was lengthened by 2mm, the upper arms by 1mm, and the thighs by 1mm. Additional detailing—usually avoided by the builder—was also carefully added across the body for a more intricate finish.

Posing this suit proved to be a fun challenge. The Buster Gundam is notoriously tricky to pose well, but when it hits the right angle, the payoff is an incredibly cool stance. One of the featured poses includes side-mounted beam cannons on the waist, which were 3D modeled by a friend and add extra flair to the silhouette.

The face of the original Buster Gundam wasn’t quite to the creator’s taste, so it was heavily adjusted, using references like the Robot Spirits figure and the MG Buster kit. The shoulders were also modified—trimmed down from their original bulky design to more closely resemble the proportions of the classic Buster. The signature combined cannon was taken from a G Frame figure and integrated into the build.

This project is a strong example of how subtle changes and thoughtful customization can breathe new life into a familiar mobile suit design.
