Released in 2014 and recently reissued through Premium Bandai, the HG GN Arms TYPE-E (Real Color Ver.) is available for ¥5,390. This model offers an upgraded aesthetic while preserving the original mechanical design.

Overview and Features

The GN Arms TYPE-E is a support unit designed for Gundam Exia from Mobile Suit Gundam 00. Developed by Celestial Being, it can operate independently as GN Arms or combine with Exia to form the GN Armor configuration. Unlike the standard edition, this version does not include the Exia unit.

The Real Color Ver. features a more subdued, military-inspired color palette that adds a refined, tactical appearance. It maintains all original gimmicks and transformation mechanisms.

GN Arms Mode

In its standalone mode, the GN Arms resembles a heavy support fighter with a sleek and aggressive silhouette. This is a large-scale kit, and although the HG Exia isn’t included, it is compatible with both HG and RG Exia models.

Color separation is primarily achieved through molded plastic.
Decals replicate RG-style line markings for added realism.
Articulation is limited but functional, combining ABS and polycap joints.
Requires a Phillips screwdriver for two screws used in assembly.

Weaponry and Details

Twin Large GN Swords extend from either side. GN Beam Guns are embedded within each sword’s inner structure. Large GN Cannons are mounted mid-body.

Underside foldable footrests support the docking configuration. Stand connector hatch can be closed when not in use. Multiple GN Verniers are placed at the rear, molded in gray instead of the typical yellow. Armor plating over the verniers includes visible hollow sections.

Size Comparison

Even without a mobile suit docked, GN Arms is impressive in scale, dwarfing both HG and RG Exia units when displayed side-by-side.

Transformation to GN Armor Mode

Transformation to the combined GN Armor mode is seamless, with no part swapping required:

Upper and lower body units deploy.
The nose section rotates 180 degrees to reveal the docking mechanism.
The footrest units unfold, with claw tips optionally deployable.
Inner footrest positions adjust inward to align with Exia’s legs.
Cannons and wings expand outward, adding visual impact.
Exia docks via the hip joint – HG connects directly; RG uses an included joint adapter.

Key Functional Details

Cannons can elevate, and the barrel tips slide outward. GN Swords pivot and rotate, allowing wide-range posing. Though the legs rest on foot platforms without locking, the connection is stable.

Claws and verniers enhance the mechanical detailing and sense of scale. Exia’s arms remain free for posing and weapon handling.

Compatibility and Versatility

Uses a standard 3mm peg connection, allowing for customization with various kits. Compatible with 30MS series figures with slight joint adjustments. Longer rear skirts may need removal for proper docking. Footrests may not match all kits but can be folded away if necessary.

The model retains its functional transformation, features solid articulation where it counts, and offers excellent compatibility with other kits.
