Gunpla Custom Build : RG 1/144 Genbusou Ryofu Tallgeese by @IjZLhg10RTKtBOG
The RG 1/144 Genbusou Ryofu Tallgeese, masterfully customized by the Gunpla builder @IjZLhg10RTKtBOG, stands as an exemplary model of unique modification and intricate detailing.
The “Black Obsidian War God” Xuanwu Armor Lü Bu Tallgeese has been completed, inspired by the BB Senshi Sangokuden: Senjin Kettō Hen series. This custom model combines parts from RG Tallgeese and HG Fuun Saiki, with extensive scratch-built elements and original detailing to recreate the armored appearance of Lü Bu in his Xuanwu form.
The base of the build is the RG Tallgeese, with all armor parts except the mask modified and transplanted from the Xuanwu Armor version. For the head crest, real pheasant feathers were processed and used to reflect the traditional aesthetic. The display base was created using Action Base 8, enhanced with diorama-grade soil paste, decorative stones from tropical fish aquariums, and grass elements, with dry brushing added for natural texture and visual depth.
The horse, Sekitoba, is based on the rearing pose of HG Fuun Saiki, modified into a forward-leaning position. The mask was scratch-built, while the rest of the figure was completed through kitbashing. The reins were crafted from real leather to match traditional Chinese designs. Golden decorative accents throughout the model were applied using nail art decals, while the mane was made with real turkey feathers, shaped and attached in layers for realism.
In previous builds such as the RG Unrivaled Hero Yi Sheng Cao Cao, references were taken from Japanese samurai armor and Kamakura-era decorated horses. This time, to reflect Chinese styling, faux leather repair tape was used to recreate decorative straps, while metallic components were made from budget-friendly materials.
The mask design incorporates only the mouthpiece from the HG Sinanju, with the rest being scratch-built. The visor was made separately using resin poured over a release agent, forming it into a detachable part. The iconic halberd, the Fangtian Huaji, features a mirrored finish by layering Hasegawa mirror and clear finish sheets to simulate a chrome-like effect.
For the saddle cloth, layered Mystic Paper was used and trimmed finely along the edges to simulate tassels. The turkey feathers used for the mane were carefully trimmed to reduce stiffness and prominence, then divided into three segments and affixed to the back of the head for a natural flow.
This build brings to life a dramatic and richly detailed interpretation of Lü Bu in the Gundam universe, blending traditional aesthetics with high-grade model techniques.
