The HG 1/144 Gundam Beyond Global: Custom, masterfully customized by the Gunpla builder @oyakopuramoderu, stands as an exemplary model of unique modification and intricate detailing.

They recently completed an original transformable Gundam design. This build was based on the concept of blending the classic First Gundam style with elements from the Alternate Universe series—marking their first attempt at a variable (transformable) mobile suit.

The core of the design uses the HG Beyond Global Gundam, with the goal of preserving the essence of the original RX-78-2 while modifying the body to suit their personal style. Parts from various other "Alternate Universe" kits were incorporated to create the transformation features.

Normal Mode

In this mode, the Gundam is equipped with a standard beam rifle and shield.

Compared to other HG Gundam kits, the Beyond Global version has a slimmer silhouette, a more rounded chest, and longer thighs. To enhance these sleek proportions, they modified the legs with a heeled design, adjusted the torso, and customized other areas to better reflect their aesthetic preferences.

Flight Mode (Transformable Flying Mode)

For the flight configuration, they used the Immortal’s backpack and Geminass Assault Pack. The weapon is the Buster Rifle from MG Wing Gundam, chosen to create the image of a high-altitude, long-range sniper unit.

Thanks to the excellent articulation of the knee joints, they rotated the thighs 180 degrees and folded the lower legs tightly inward. Thrusters were placed at the knee joints to complete the flight form.

Transformable MS Mode

The color scheme for this mode was inspired by Zeta Plus and ReZEL, giving it a more modern, high-performance transformable MS vibe.

Concept and Process

Initially, they were planning a non-transformable design with swappable flight parts. However, upon realizing they had an extra Immortal backpack, they pivoted and decided to turn it into a fully transformable mobile suit.

Before painting, the base form was left in its raw plastic state, allowing time to refine the transformation mechanics and silhouette.
