The HG 1/144 Johnny Ridden's Zaku II High Mobility Type (GQ), masterfully customized by the Gunpla builder @hina_sun_, stands as an exemplary model of unique modification and intricate detailing.

The Johnny Ridden High Mobility Zaku (GQ) has been completed. This custom build was created by imagining what a “High Mobility Zaku” would look like within the GQ world, starting from the base Zaku kit.

In that world, the lineage of high-mobility machines runs from the Military Police Zaku (special forces type), to the Rick Dom, to the Gelgoog, and finally to the GQX. A consistent design theme is the addition of extra limbs or thrusters on the back. To reflect that, the builder equipped the backpack with fully movable propellant tanks and added large thrusters. For the cylindrical tanks on the lower section, they imagined them as being wider than those of the 06R type.

Since this is meant to represent the 06R-2, the leg thrusters and covers were a must. For weaponry, they could have simply used the standard Giant Bazooka, but to lean into the “similar yet different” design philosophy, they instead kitbashed a bazooka-like weapon using parts from 30MS, giving it a unique but recognizable look.

Because the GQ world has no “Old Zaku,” this machine exists purely as the “High Mobility Zaku 06R-2 type” — without the Zaku II naming issue that exists in other timelines.

In the end, the completed build was displayed alongside the original Johnny Ridden Zaku (an RG out-of-box build). Despite the differences, the GQ Zaku still unmistakably reads as a Zaku, showing off the strength of its design.
