The 1/100 Qubeley Papillon, masterfully customized by the Gunpla builder @mabo_ma_mabo, stands as an exemplary model of unique modification and intricate detailing.

The modeler has completed a custom 1/100 Qubeley Papillon, constructed through an intricate mix of kitbashing and semi-scratch work based on the MG Qubeley Damned. The goal was to create a dramatically scaled, visually imposing interpretation of the Papillon.

The build retains the defining elements of the Damned while reshaping them to express the Papillon’s signature silhouette. The narrowed, feminine waistline, enlarged arm units, and elongated rear-swept head structure were all reworked to balance elegance with mechanical presence.

The red luminous lines were produced by cutting thin plastic plates, painting them, and layering them neatly along the armor to create a vivid glowing effect.

The twin eyes were fabricated from custom-cut plastic sheets. After painting them with NX Metallic Yellow-Green, the modeler applied commercial reflective tape from Daiso to achieve a sharp, brilliant finish. Because the tape is a clear material, the fluorescent paint beneath emits a striking glow, giving the head unit a visually dynamic presence.

The comparison between last year’s Nexpo entry and this year’s updated version highlights significant refinement. Sections that had been rushed previously were rebuilt or thoroughly improved. Panel lines were re-scribed, artifact parts were repositioned for better detailing, and new components—such as redesigned shoulder units and reworked high-heel parts—were introduced to enhance the overall silhouette and precision.

The final stretch of work was particularly intense. The modeler continued refining the build until 7:40 a.m. on the morning of the Nexpo event. Even while rushing out the door, they managed to capture a quick photo, documenting the very last moments of the process.
