The HG 1/144 Gundam Nex Calibarn, masterfully customized by the Gunpla builder @akasiyakinma, stands as an exemplary model of unique modification and intricate detailing.

The X-EX01NX Nexcalibarn is a custom next-generation GUND-ARM developed from Calibarn. The name combines “Next” with “Excalibur,” chosen primarily for its strong impression rather than strict alignment with the modification concept.

The front design retains Calibarn as the core, with Aerial shoulders, remodeled forearms, Build Strike side skirts on the thighs, and modified ankle guards from 00 Diver. These changes subtly reinforce the silhouette while keeping the original identity intact.

The rear backpack is heavily upgraded. Custom joints mounted in newly drilled 3mm holes support O-Raiser binders and Universe Booster beam cannons via Powered Arms Powerder arms. A shortened Seravee bazooka, decorated with pla-plate and spare parts, is mounted to the binders, adding visual density and firepower.

Armament includes a GN Sword II Blaster enhanced with the GN Sword buckler from Exia, with an upper mount prepared for GUND-bit connections. The Escutcheon uses Aerial GUND-bits for the shoulder-mounted units. In Bit-On Form, thigh-mounted bits are repositioned to the heels using neodymium magnets. High Maneuver Mode reorients the binders rearward while deploying the toes, heels, and heel-mounted bits downward for increased mobility.

The build highlights the importance of paint preparation. Allowing generous clearances before painting helps avoid fit issues caused by paint thickness, and thorough washing of parts with neutral detergent proved essential.
