Gunpla Custom Build : HG 1/144 ReZEL Type-C: Bumblebee by @yuzu13

The HG 1/144 ReZEL Type-C: Bumblebee, masterfully customized by the Gunpla builder @yuzu13, stands as an exemplary model of unique modification and intricate detailing.

This project reimagines the ReZEL Type-C with an original yellow-based color scheme inspired by METHUSS. The concept embraces the idea of a transformable unit, using bold color and heavy detailing to emphasize its mechanical complexity.

Rather than using the standard General Revil colors, the builder opted for a vivid yellow reminiscent of construction machinery and the iconic “Bumblebee” style. This choice highlights the transformable nature of the suit, making its structure and panel separation more visible.

The color scheme is not only stylistic but also thematic, reinforcing the idea that transformable machines should appear intricate and mechanically layered.

The model features extensive panel lining, color separation, and decals to increase visual density. The builder approached the design with the mindset that transformable units should look more mechanically complex, similar in spirit—though not to the same extent—as transforming machines in other franchises.

Gaps and hollow sections were carefully filled using plastic plates and putty, resulting in a more solid and refined appearance, especially on the rear side.

Modifications

  • Wing parts were modified using seam-line techniques for a cleaner finish
  • Shield was reshaped, with the tip layered to create a sliding visual effect and unwanted openings filled
  • Certain inherited design elements from Methuss were altered for a more balanced look
  • Non-transforming wing sections were intentionally kept simpler to avoid visual overload

Weapons such as the mega beam launcher and beam rifle were recolored to match the overall theme, maintaining consistency across the build.

In Wave Rider mode, the unit resembles a hybrid between a sci-fi aircraft and industrial machinery. Some angles even evoke a pteranodon-like silhouette, emphasizing the versatility of the transformable design.

The bold yellow enhances visibility of the transformation structure, making the mechanical transitions more visually engaging.

While the base kit is relatively easy to build, the finishing process presented challenges. Issues such as seam-line cracking after painting, fragile areas during panel lining, and paint damage from sanding required careful correction.

Despite these difficulties, the final result demonstrates persistence and a strong commitment to the concept.

This custom ReZEL Type-C successfully combines homage elements with original ideas. The bold color choice, dense detailing, and focus on transformable mechanics result in a unique interpretation that stands apart from standard variants while preserving the identity of the base unit.
