The MG 1/100 ZZ Gundam Ver.Ka FAZZ Color: GMAS paint, masterfully customized by the Gunpla builder @karubi29, stands as an exemplary model of unique modification and intricate detailing.

While many builders are celebrating Full Armor ZZ variations, this project takes a different path: a standard MG ZZ Gundam finished in a color scheme reminiscent of the FAZZ.

Paint Concept and Execution

The entire kit was repainted primarily using a Gundam Marker airbrush system—an ambitious choice for a near full repaint on an MG-scale model.

  • Main color: Zeon Gray
  • Accent panels: Darker Phantom Gray (from the Zeon marker set)
  • Purple sections: Hi-Nu inspired purple tone
  • Antenna: Metallic Orange
  • Thruster interiors: Shine Silver

The binder fronts were repainted white using EX White, though slight plastic translucency remains visible—highlighting the limitations of marker-based coverage.

The backpack is finished in Metallic Black, while the missile pods use Royal Meta Red for a bold, reflective contrast.

The Double Beam Rifle uses Metallic Dark Blue and Metallic Black, with touches of Heavy Gun Metallic to achieve a subdued but weighty metallic presence. The darker metallic palette prevents the weapon from overpowering the muted FAZZ-style body.

The build also features the “Biocomputer activation” effect for added visual drama, especially when photographed under dim lighting conditions.

One air can was insufficient; approximately two and a half were ultimately required. Since the markers came in sets, replacing individual colors proved inefficient and costly. The internal frame was left unpainted, reinforcing the desire for a more robust painting setup in future projects.

This FAZZ-inspired ZZ Gundam offers a refreshing alternative to the standard tricolor scheme. Despite the technical and material limitations of the marker airbrush system, the final result delivers strong presence and a satisfying sense of completion. It stands as both a bold color experiment and a lesson in the demands of full MG-scale repainting.
