The protagonist machine from the manga Mobile Suit Gundam Eight, the EES-001 Gundam Zilius, has been recreated in HG form with several custom enhancements focused on improving its overall presence.

One of the standout features of the original design is the feather extension unit on the back. However, since it is barely visible from the front view, a larger scratch-built version was created to give the silhouette more impact and improve visual balance from all angles.

The build also received additional panel lining and decals, significantly increasing the surface detail and overall information density. These enhancements help the model appear more refined and visually striking despite its relatively simple base structure.

Posing, however, proved more difficult than expected. With the beam saber missing, the model relies mainly on the rifle and shield, but both accessories interfere heavily with the body during articulation. Even so, the final presentation still manages to capture the heroic and high-speed atmosphere of the Gundam Zilius design.

Overall, the project successfully improves the original kit through scratch-building and detailing work, creating a more dynamic and display-friendly version of the manga’s lead mobile suit.
