The Gundam Calibarn Slash is a custom high-mobility close-combat variant based on the Gundam Calibarn. Created for ISPWC2026's MAV battle category, the build combines Calibarn with various kits from the Witch from Mercury line to produce a specialized frontline assault unit designed to break through enemy formations.

The customization emphasizes speed, aggression, and versatility. While retaining the elegant silhouette of the original Calibarn, the modifications transform it into a dedicated melee-focused machine capable of operating at the spearhead of a combat team.

The primary ranged weapon is a modified version of the original Variable Rod Rifle. The shortened barrel improves handling and maneuverability, making it more suitable for high-speed engagements. Beyond its ranged role, the weapon also functions as an auxiliary propulsion unit and can deploy a beam blade at the muzzle for close-quarters combat.

The main melee weapon is a large hybrid sword that combines a physical blade with an integrated beam edge. This dual-purpose design enhances effectiveness against a wide variety of targets while reinforcing the machine’s role as a close-range specialist.

Both primary weapons can be connected together to create either an oversized sword or a large-caliber cannon. This modular system expands the unit’s tactical flexibility and provides a dramatic visual centerpiece for the build.

The Calibarn Slash carries two blade-type GUND-Bits known as Jinrai. These electrically charged weapons add a destructive shock effect to melee attacks, allowing them to inflict both physical and electrical damage upon impact.

The shell units were painted with fluorescent paints that react to ultraviolet light, creating a glowing effect that simulates the activation of the machine’s maximum Permet output. The lighting effect adds a striking visual contrast and enhances the futuristic atmosphere of the design.

One of the most creative aspects of the project is its MAV support gimmick. The unit can borrow GUND-Bits from an allied Gundam Aerial to enter a specialized Bit-On configuration. This boosts mobility and Permet link performance, while the allied Aerial receives the Variable Buster Rifle in exchange to increase its firepower. The concept highlights teamwork and battlefield synergy, allowing both units to amplify each other's strengths.
