To commemorate the 40th anniversary of GunPla, Bandai launches a groundbreaking high-end line: MGEX (Master Grade Extreme). This premium brand explores the concept of “extreme expression,” with each model built around a unique theme that fuses advanced engineering and a mix of innovative materials. The first release in the MGEX lineup is the RX-0 Unicorn Gundam Ver. Ka, which showcases the theme of “Extreme Luminescence Mechanism.”

This kit features a completely new LED system that brings the Unicorn Gundam to life. With a simple press of a button, the eyes and main camera light up, while the Psycho-Frame emits a vibrant glow that shifts between red and green. The lighting is designed to vary in intensity, creating a dynamic and immersive display unlike anything seen before in the Master Grade series.

Central to this breakthrough is the introduction of a flexible LED sheet, a newly developed component that simplifies assembly, conserves internal space, and allows seamless integration of the lighting system into the kit’s transformation and articulation mechanisms. For the first time, transformation, full-body illumination, color shifting, and full range of motion are achieved simultaneously in a single model.

The Unicorn Gundam is recreated with brand-new proportions under the full supervision of renowned mechanical designer Hajime Katoki, ensuring both authenticity and visual impact. Even the shield’s clear parts, which can be placed away from the main body, are capable of lighting up thanks to clever lead wire integration, enhancing the sense of realism and depth.

A custom MS cage is included to house the battery box for the LED system, support dynamic display poses, and securely hold weapons. Additionally, the kit includes water-transfer decals featuring exclusive markings designed specifically for this model. To power the LED features, the model requires three AA alkaline batteries (sold separately).
