PG UNLEASHED 1/60 RX-78-2 Gundam from Mobile Suit Gundam is now available as assembly plastic model kit Gunpla PGU: Perfect Grade Unleashed Bandai.

RX-78-2 Gundam

RX-78-2 Gundam (ガンダム) is the titular mobile suit of Mobile Suit Gundam anime. Part of the RX-78 Gundam series, it was built in secret on Side 7. The Gundam would turn the tide of war in favor of the Earth Federation during the One Year War against the Principality of Zeon. It was primarily piloted by Amuro Ray.

Gundam was incredibly advanced for its time. Built from lightweight Luna Titanium Alloy, its frame was both lighter than that of Zeon's mass-produced mobile suits and much sturdier, able to shrug off a MS-06 Zaku II's machine gun fire with little to no damage. 

Its offensive power was above and beyond that of the Zakus. The Gundam would engage in most battles with its beam rifle, making it the first mobile suit to have firepower equivalent to a battleship's beam cannons. In addition, it made use of two beam sabers, blades of extremely hot plasma which could cut through any metal with ease. Those beam sabers could be extended into a spear-like beam javelin, which could be used to stab into an enemy from a longer distance.

Gundam also used more conventional weaponry; it could launch rockets with a "Hyper Bazooka", the Federation's answer to the bazookas used by Zeon's Zakus; in addition, its head was outfitted with a pair of small vulcan guns, as a way of attacking light-armored aircraft and vehicles without wasting ammo or energy from its more powerful armaments. It also made use of a very unconventional close-range weapon known as the "Gundam Hammer" - a large weapon similar to a flail which could be swung at enemies to deal crushing damage. 

Gundam Hammer was eventually upgraded for use in space and outfitted with a number of verniers on the ball, and renamed to be the "Hyper Hammer". Armor PG Unleashed 1/60 RX-78-2 Gundam is also released in clear Color ver. with price 4,950 Yen and also on display at the Gunpla Expo Tokyo 2020.

The entire build of Perfect Grade Unleashed RX-78-2 Gundam have 5 phases where it starts from its deep inner framing, covered with layers of numerous detailing and add-ons.

PHASE 1

The whole bone structure of the Perfect Grade Unleashed RX-78-2 Gundam lies in its deeper inner framing which makes the whole structure stands. This includes pre-molded parts for its jointed parts, like arms and legs.

PHASE 2

Giving the PG Unleashed RX-78-2 Gundam a little more movability by providing some multiple joint parts in its inner framing. These joints acts as additional support to the inner structure's stability and to help provide the kit bending movements.

PHASE 3

GunPla's inner framing just got better with the help of metallic texture framing. These parts provides more detailing to the inner frame's structure, giving it some realistic mechanical feel and some special highlights. The parts also gives more weight to the inner framing, keeping its stability when posed.

PHASE 4

Detailing had just gotten more fun by using the provided etch films that adds some extended detailing to its inner framing and outer armor pieces. Each film are also printed in colors that adds interesting highlights to the PG Unleashed RX-78-2 Gundam Model Kit.

PHASE 5

The PG Unleashed RX-78-2 Gundam's finishing touch features light emitting sections, provided by the new 2-lamp LED lights that casts lights to different parts of its structure, that includes the eye cameras, chest vents. The beam saber also has a tiny LED light installed in its hilt that reflects to the beam effect part when activated.

The final build of the kit can also perform a full open-hatch gimmick, which also is one of the many amazing assets of a Perfect Grade model kit.
