REVIEW Daban 8818 HiRM Gundam Barbatos, Daban Model
Daban 8818 HiRM Barbatos Gundam 1st-6th Form has just been released by one of the big bootleg manufacturers from China, Daban Model. Carrying code 8818, HiRM Barbatos is a copy of the original Bandai Barbatos HiRM Model Kit. How is the review? let's listen.
Design Daban 8818
The design of this part of the Daban 8818 HiRM Barbatos Gundam in some parts will look the same as the HiRM Barbatos Gundam Bandai, but Daban 8818 also has its own designs for other parts, such as the shoulder part of the Gundam Barbatos 6th Form.
Snapfit Daban 8818
The Daban Model manufacturer is quite famous for the hardness of the plastic material used, so it is not uncommon for this model kit released from Daban to hurt the hands of builders when assembling it. And this also happened to the Daban 8818 HiRM Barbatos Gundam. There is quite a lot of snapfit which is quite hard and also loose in some parts when assembling.
Some of the peg joints are so tight that they are very difficult to install or reopen, such as the mace part. The same thing happened to the ankle hinge which was so tightly connected that it was quite difficult to turn it to make the pose on the leg.
The heel part is quite problematic if we replace the form that changes the shape of the foot (such as 1st form to 6th form), because if you remove the heel armor it will leave a mark on the inner frame of the heel, a kind of scratch mark.
Hand Unit |
The shoulder joint on the arm is similar to the HG or NG, has a long down Peg. It is quite prone to loose, as a suggestion it is better to use tissue wadding so that the bond between parts is a little stronger. The hand to arm join part is also very short which reminds me of MG Daban 00 Gundam or QanT which has the same short hand join, very different from the original Bandai HIRM which is quite long.
In addition, the Daban 8818 HiRM Barbatos Gundam also has an eye design which in my opinion looks smaller than the original. The innerframe, unfortunately, does not have alloy-parts.
Articulation Daban 8818
Daban 8818 HiRM Gundam Barbatos has articulation that is quite similar to the original, but slightly worse. The articulation can be said to be quite limited, maybe this is because the shape is a bit bulky in the design, so it hinders the rotation of the existing articulation.
The movement of the shoulder hinge is quite limited, it cannot be bent more extreme, and if it is moved often enough it can cause it to loose. Gundam Barbatos is known for its fairly heavy weaponry, and this is one of the problems that exist in this Daban 8818, which when held in hand, the weight of these weapons cannot be supported by the hands of Daban 8818 Gundam Barbatos.
The piston part on his shoulder can only move immovably up and down like the Master Grade which was recently released by Bandai.
The legs can only bend to about 90 degrees, so they are not allowed to do extreme poses.
The arm part has the same problem as the original, where the part can only bend 90 degrees and is risky enough to break to bend it taper at the elbow.
The one that has good articulation and movement is the waist part. The leg stretch is good enough, so that the groin angle that is created is quite large.

Finishing Daban 8818
Daban 8818 Gundam Barbatos has a significant difference in finishing from Original Bandai. Daban Model released the Daban 8818 with electroplating (chrome) finishing for the Gold, Silver, Blue and Red runners.
For the white-gray duotone coloring, the placement and color selection is quite good and different from the original, but it is quite unfortunate for the shoulders to only get white without the availability of gray at all.
Runner Daban 8818
The runner has quite a lot of minus in terms of black coloring which has quite a lot of black parts not mixed neatly (not thoroughly). However, the electroplating is quite good and clean in finishing.
In conclusion, the Daban 8818 HiRM Gundam Barbatos is a pretty strong model when juxtaposed with the HiRM Gundam Barbatos Bandai. Besides having a fairly cheap price of around USD 35 which is quite far from Bandai, Daban 8818 also has a quite different design from the HiRM Gundam Barbatos Bandai.
However, the drawback lies in the ingredients that are not good enough, which causes the number of snapfits that are not smooth. The electroplating also adds a premium impression to the Daban 8818.
