MGSD ZGMF-X10A Freedom Gundam Review

The review of the MGSD Freedom Gundam, the first of the new Gunpla brand "MGSD". The exciting concept of this item, "Integrating the technology of the MG series into the SD Gundam", and the new technology used in various parts is also a concern.

Box Art, Runner and set contents

Super cool box art with a special feeling. It seems that the enthusiasm for the new series is transmitted strongly. First, check the contents of the kit. Let's check the contents of the box before assembling. The manual is a saddle-stitched type and has a lot of content.

A Runner is a multicolor molded runner. The new technology "Real Metallic Gloss Injection" is used for the silver parts. It is said that it is a material that has improved the metallic luster to the gloss injection.

The B-runner that makes up the white part of the exterior. The red C-runner is the point color. A gray D-Runner that makes up each part of the aircraft and the Xifias Rail Cannon.

The E-runner that mainly composes the frame. This is also the F runner used for each part of the frame. It's a dark gray with a slight green tint. G runner that makes up the black color of each part.

H runner used for wing units. The clear blue I runner and the beam saber blade runner that are one of the highlights of the wing binder. Head Unit

Now that the parts have been confirmed, let's start assembling. For the head, first, the base part of the real metallic gloss injection is fitted with the parts for the eyes.

The details in the eyes are clearly visible, which is a unique expression of SD with a large head. Attach clear parts here to complete the eyes. It has a double structure, and it's cool that you can see the details inside through the clear parts.

Assemble the frame parts to the base parts. The camera part on the top of the head has a double structure similar to the twin eye, so you can see the details inside through the clear parts.

Once the frame is done, we will attach the exterior. This is handsome. The interior of the duct and the details of the machine gun are also wonderfully finished.

If you pay attention to the glossiness of the cannon, you can see the effect of real metallic gloss injection. The structure of the antenna part. Engraving of "X-10A DIECI" firmly on the forehead. Attach the antenna to complete the head.

The density of information is tremendous. The shape of the mask is also flat and seems to be Freedom Gundam. Detail on the back of the antenna.

Body Unit

Next is the fuselage assembly. The photo shows the abdominal joint. Equipped with two movable axes, it can be folded and extended. It seems to be effective when you bend forward or move your body.

Neck parts, since it is a double joint, you can pull the jaw and move upward. The chest frame parts where the abdomen and neck are connected. Real metallic gloss injection is adopted for the chest duct.

The shoulder joint is a pull-out type, allowing the arm to extend forward. Put a red circle on the part with the movable axis of the abdomen. These movable axes enable dynamic movements such as bending forward, leaning back, and twisting. That completes the fuselage frame.

Arms Unit

The elbow joint is a double joint and the range of motion is perfect. When the connection shaft with the shoulder is combined, the arm part is complete. The wrist has a parts configuration that conforms to the MG series. Combine them to complete the arms.

Legs Unit

Start with your ankles. The ankle has a movable shaft in the toe and the center. Furthermore, the heel part can be rotated with the roll axis. Assemble the frame from the peach to the tang.

Put a red circle on the movable axis of the leg frame. It's a tremendous range of motion that overturns the common sense of SD. Completion of the leg frame. Real metallic gloss injection parts are included in the knees, and you can peek at them when moving. Attach the exterior to complete the legs.

By the way, Futomomo has a gimmick that slides when her knees are deeply bent, like MG.

Waist Unit

This is the internal structure of the frame in the crotch area. By knocking down the front block, the lock will be released and the crotch shaft can be pulled out. This allows you to increase the range of motion when posing.

The joint that connects the waist and abdomen has a movable axis. It gives you more range of motion when you bend your torso forward. View of the waist frame from above. When posing, the block with the waist side armor can be released backwards.

The rear armor can move up and down at the base. The detail density of the front armor is also perfect. The backing parts also enhance the details behind the armor.

When the gun barrel is deployed forward, the rear part will rise in conjunction. The grip is also movable. The handle of the Lacerta Beam Saber can be stored in the upper part. Since it can be locked with the black parts on the side, there is no porori that tends to occur with Freedom Gundam's three-dimensional objects. Of course, the Lacerta beam saber can be connected. Attach the side armor to complete the waist.

Combining the parts up to this point completes the main body. This is cool.

Wing Backpack Unit

Start with the base. The thruster at the bottom can be opened and closed, and there is a connection hole for the action base inside. The Balaena Plasma Convergence Beam Cannon is beautifully color-coded. At the base, there is a movable axis that can adjust the position when deployed.

Clear parts that use the new technology "Reflection Cut" are included in the base of the binder. It emits glitter and light at one point.

A wing binder is completed by combining small wings. The binder can be expanded to reproduce the high mat mode. Furthermore, it is equipped with a drawer gimmick.

The wing unit is complete when combined with the base parts. Expand each part to high mat mode. The movable axis allows it to be folded and placed side by side in full burst mode as shown in the photo.

Weaponry and Accessories set

First of all, Lupus Beam Rifle with perfect color coding. Clear parts are included in the sensor part. Also, there is a connection pin on the right side. As shown in the photo, it can also be connected to the waist.

Finally, let's assemble the shield. It's also a great color scheme. When holding it, it supports two points: the grip and the connection to the forearm. Now, if you've made it this far, put a marking sticker on it.

Movability and Articulation

As you can see, the movable axis of the whole body allows for a natural kneeling pose. The pull-out joint on the shoulder allows the arm to move forward. With several built-in movable axes, the movement of the torso is also very flexible.

It was the first item in the new brand "MGSD" series, but I felt that it was exactly as the concept says, "an item that integrates MG technology into the body of SD Gundam".
