The HG GNT-0000SDV Gundam 00 Command Qan[T] Desert Type, part of the HG Build Metaverse series and priced at 2,200 yen, includes accessories such as a Heavy Machine Gun, Arms Shield, Command Sword, and a left flat hand. The kit also comes with various stickers for condensers, sensors, and the gray color on the instep of the feet. As the base model is the HG 00 Quanta, many of its parts are left over, though these cannot be used to build the normal Quanta.

Desert Type Customization

The GNT-0000SDV Gundam 00 Command Qan[T] has been re-released as a Desert Type. This version is customized for tropical desert warfare, featuring a new color scheme and improved dustproofing and cooling efficiency. While there are no sculptural changes from the normal version, the sand-colored palette gives it a strong military feel.

Kit Construction

The base of the kit is the HG 00 Quanta, with joint mechanisms and some parts reused. However, the majority of the armor is bulkier and more angular, giving the impression of a sturdy and robust machine. The joints do not use ABS plastic, and the polycaps are PC-001A.

Backpack and Weapons

The backpack can equip the Command Sword and Heavy Machine Gun. While stickers are used for the internal condensers, various sensors, and gray on the instep, the rest of the kit features well-detailed color separation.

Body Armor

The armor around the torso has been altered to a more angular design. While the side armor, rear armor, and abdomen are from the Quanta, the chest armor is thicker. The back lacks the GN Drive, replaced by a two-hole pack system.

Backpack Details

The backpack includes a large sensor and a four-tube missile launcher, both connected with 3mm joints allowing rotation. The missiles are connected via an arm for flexibility.

Compatibility

The two-hole pack system allows for the use of various packs from other Gundam series, such as 30MM.

Arm Details

The arm armor is different from the normal Quanta, with bulkier shoulder armor and some seam lines on the forearm. The right and left arms are asymmetrical, with smaller armor replacing the gauntlet.

Leg Construction

The legs are based on the Quanta, with changes to the knee and ankle armor, making them bulkier and slightly longer.

Articulation

The articulation range remains unchanged from the normal Command Quanta, with smooth movement and no issues with polycap loosening.

Weaponry

The heavy machine gun's color has been changed to a reddish-gray. The blade part is reused from the 00 Quanta’s sword bits. The arms shield is now sand-colored, and its connection to the arm ensures stability. The Command Sword’s handle color is the only change, with the blade made of soft plastic, similar to the HG Quanta.

Comparison

The head design remains the same, inspired by the Command Gundam, distinct from the normal Quanta. The twin-eye color has been changed to red.

Compared to the HGGBB Gundam 00 Command Qan[T], the only difference is the molded color. The sand color is well done and does not feel translucent.

Summary

The HG GNT-0000SDV Gundam 00 Command Qan[T] Desert Type is a color variant kit, changing from the Command Gundam's green to a sand color, maintaining a military aesthetic. Despite the lack of new equipment, the detailed and well-made weapons, along with the appealing color scheme, make it an excellent variant for those who missed the normal Command Quanta.
