Tamashii Nation x Bandai action figure Gunpla ROBOT魂 Spirits <SIDE MS> MD-0032G Dilanza [ Guell Custom ] ver. ANIME Review
The MD-0031 Dilanza Guel Custom ver. A.N.I.M.E. figure captures the essence of its on-screen counterpart, showcasing a heavyset design reminiscent of a sumo wrestler. The purple color scheme of the Guel Custom is faithfully reproduced.
Head Design
While lacking a mono-eye, the figure maintains a Zeon Mobile Suit silhouette without any awkwardness. The facial paintwork is precise, enhancing its visual appeal. The antenna and characteristic feather decorations are sharply sculpted, with the feathers painted over clear parts.
Feather Decorations
The feather decorations include options for dynamic action poses, featuring feathers that appear to flutter. They can also be removed to replicate the appearance from the latter part of the series.
Body and Limb Proportions
True to the ver. A.N.I.M.E. line, the figure's design remains faithful to the series without any modifications. The torso is broad and thick, reflecting its bulky build. The arms and legs are notably thick, with the legs being the most prominent feature. The thighs are short, while the lower legs are long and thick, creating a unique balance. The shoulder armor is also significantly large.
Articulation
Despite the heavy build, the figure boasts impressive articulation. The head tilts downward with ease, and the waist can swing extensively thanks to a pull-out joint. The shoulders can be raised high, and the elbows and knees bend deeply. The hip joints are pull-out type, allowing for wide movement in all directions, and the figure has good ground contact. The waist can be pulled out by about 80 degrees, and the shoulders by about 60 degrees.
Accessories
Full Equipment
The figure comes with a full set of accessories, including a Beam Partisan that is quite large, true to the series. It includes both the initial green and the later pink beam blades. The pink blade has a slightly orange hue compared to the anime.
Beam Torch
The Beam Torch also includes both green and pink blades. When not in use, it can be stored inside the left shoulder armor. The gray parts for attachment are movable, making it easy to attach and detach.
Beam Rifle
The Beam Rifle can be stored inside the right shoulder armor. It also comes with effect parts for the Beam Vulcan.
Comparisons and Display
When compared with the Aerial, the figure's height and width are substantial, reflecting its 10,450 yen price tag. The flexible joints, typical of the ver. A.N.I.M.E. series, allow for surprisingly agile poses for such a heavy MS. The Partisan can be swung dramatically with both hands, and the Beam Rifle can be held with the left hand supporting the barrel, just like in the series.
Endgame Mode
The figure can switch to its endgame mode by removing the feather decorations and changing the beam blade to pink. The neck and waist are fully rotatable, and while there are no vernier effects included, they can be borrowed from other figures.
Summary
With the upcoming release of the Schwarzet, recreating battle scenes will be possible. The Dilanza Guel Custom ver. A.N.I.M.E. stands out for its faithful proportions, detailed paintwork, and excellent articulation. Despite its high quality, the current price of 10,450 yen might deter some buyers, but it is recommended to wait for a potential price drop for better value.
