Bootleg Knock Out Fang Dajing Gunpla plastic model kit 1/72 MS-06F Zaku II [ Gundam The Origin ] Green Color version Review
Recently, after the release of the unicorn version by Fangs Da Jing, a new color variant of the GTO Green Zaku has arrived. It seems the manufacturer has been quite diligent lately, as there were rumors about a black series in development as well. Compared to the previous red version, the primary updates in this green variant involve color changes and some new regulations (which is consistent with the original design). Let's dive into the details of this green version Zaku model kit.
Parts Overview
The main components of this kit largely remain unchanged, with only the color being swapped. Therefore, the overall appearance and texture of the pieces, such as the glossy finish, are similar to the red version, aside from the different color scheme. Given that the core parts are nearly identical, we won’t delve deeply into those aspects. However, the new parts include the chest armor and two new machine guns. Unlike the primary components, these newly regulated parts have a matte finish, giving them a more refined texture without the oily shine, making the details more appealing and visually comfortable.
Additional Accessories and Customization Options
Apart from the two distinct machine guns and the specialized chest armor parts, the rest of the accessories are virtually the same as those in the red version. The multiple chest armor parts allow for customizable assembly to recreate four distinct Zaku types: the C-Type, C-5 Type, C-6 Type, and 06S (Green). Although these models don’t differ significantly from each other, Fangs Da Jing has cleverly integrated them into one set. This gives builders the freedom to choose and assemble the variant they prefer.
Assembly and Fit Adjustments
Some assembly issues from the red version have been addressed in this green version. For instance, tight-fitting joints and outer armor have been adjusted to ensure a smoother build experience, though some tightness remains in certain joint support parts, especially those where PC parts were replaced with ABS materials. As a result, some joints may still require manual adjustments like trimming or enlarging holes for proper fitment. Additionally, an interference issue with the chest joint, noted in the red version, persists in this release. Without modification, the chest’s forward and backward mobility remains limited.
Material and Visuals
At its core, this is essentially an enlarged HG (High Grade) product. Despite some material issues, Fangs Da Jing has used durable materials, but assembly problems persist, whether addressed or not. Often, these issues stem from the material being too rigid or thick. On the plus side, the enlarged details look decent, though some parts have a glossy, oily appearance, detracting from the overall visual appeal. That said, once fully assembled, the model presents a striking and substantial figure.
Summary
While the green GTO Zaku retains some of the issues from its predecessor, the new color scheme and added features make it an exciting addition for collectors and modelers alike.
