Bandai Plastic Model Gundam Character FIGURE-RISE Standard Ple Two Review
The Figure-rise Standard series, known for releasing Gundam characters, has now introduced Ple Two from Mobile Suit Gundam ZZ. The kit is priced at 4,180 yen.
Included Accessories
This kit includes various accessories such as two interchangeable face parts that require water-slide decals, a headgear, a helmet with a fabric part for the neck, a handgun, and an alternate chest part with a loosened collar. Additionally, it comes with multiple hand options, including fists, holding hands, open palms, a right knife hand, and a left open palm. Several extra joints are also provided, though they are not essential to the build and can be used freely.
Decals & Stickers
For detailing, the kit includes foil stickers to supplement the color separation on the headgear and neck, along with eight different eye decals. Five of these eye decals offer three gaze directions, allowing for variety in expressions, though only two face parts are included in the kit.
Design & Build
Ple Two is portrayed in a pilot suit rather than a bulky outfit with shoulder pads, making the figure easier to pose. Her serious expression and small, slender frame are well-replicated. The build structure closely resembles 30MS, maintaining some cross-compatibility with that series. The part separation is sharp, particularly in the fine details like the tips of her hair. The pre-printed face part features a leftward gaze with a stern expression, while the other face options require water-slide decals to complete. The joints primarily use KPS, but the wrists and ankles incorporate POM joints—similar to those used in Nevanlia—to enhance durability.
Headgear & Helmet Features
Both headgear and helmet parts are included, and the helmet allows for face part swapping. The color separation is well executed, with the yellow side stripes molded separately, enhancing its accuracy. The helmet also features a clear visor, which maintains high visibility and can be removed if desired.
Articulation & Poseability
The articulation of this kit follows the 30MS structure. The abdomen lacks articulation, so movement is handled by the chest section instead. The elbows bend up to 100 degrees, and the knees bend slightly over 90 degrees, which may limit certain dynamic poses. Since the figure is in a pilot suit, posing is relatively easy, though care must be taken with the delicate sideburn parts.
Weapons & Accessories
The included handgun is compact, constructed from two parts, resulting in a visible seam. It can be held using the gripping hands, though some users may find the fit slightly loose. However, the gun is light enough that stability is not a major issue. A 3mm hole in the waist allows compatibility with display stands for various posing options.
Comparison & Compatibility
When compared to other kits, Ple Two pairs well with the MG Qubeley Mk-II (Ple Two Custom) due to her pilot suit aesthetic. She also looks great alongside the Psycho Gundam Mk-II (Metal Composite), and she is expected to match well with the upcoming HGUC Psycho Gundam Mk-II for scene recreations. While there is some interchangeability with FRS and 30MS, it is somewhat limited; Ple Two’s face fits 30MS, but 30MS faces do not fit Ple Two due to size differences. Additionally, her parts are not fully compatible with Luna Maria’s FRS kit.
Summary
Overall, Ple Two’s Figure-rise Standard kit is a surprising yet welcome addition from Gundam ZZ, especially considering the ongoing releases from The Witch from Mercury and SEED series. Although only one pre-printed face is included, the variety of eye decals allows for customization. The POM joints improve durability, and the helmet and headgear add display versatility. This kit is an excellent choice for those looking to pair it with Qubeley Mk-II or Psycho Gundam Mk-II, while also offering some compatibility with other FRS and 30MS kits.
