REVIEW FW GUNDAM CONVERGE ZGMF-X56S Impulse Gundam Silhouette Set, Premium Bandai

This is review of P-Bandai Gunpla action figure statue FW GUNDAM CONVERGE ZGMF-X56S Impulse Gundam Silhouette Set from Mobile Suit Gundam SEED DESTINY series.

The FW GUNDAM CONVERGE Impulse Gundam Silhouette Set includes three different forms of the Impulse Gundam: Force, Sword, and Blast. The base Impulse Gundam comes without any silhouette attached, and a folded Core Splendor is included to cover the hole in the back.  

Force Impulse Gundam

By attaching the Force Silhouette to the back, the model transforms into the Force Impulse Gundam. The overall size remains consistent with other Converge figures, but the silhouette parts are noticeably larger, likely due to this being a Premium Bandai exclusive. The paint quality appears better than usual, possibly due to its premium nature. The intricate color scheme of the Impulse Gundam is well replicated without major omissions.  

Sword Impulse Gundam

Since the Impulse Gundam's body color changes depending on the silhouette, this set includes three different base bodies. The Sword Impulse features a predominantly red color scheme, which is beautifully recreated. The Sword Silhouette is also notably large, enhancing the visual impact. Two laser anti-ship swords are included as handheld weapons. The swords attached to the back can be removed, and separate versions are provided to properly depict the beam blade activation. Additionally, a combined version of the swords is included, making this a truly premium-sized figure. The weapon can also be equipped by the Force Impulse Gundam.  

Blast Impulse Gundam

The Blast Impulse Gundam features a green-based color scheme, accurately reproduced with a voluminous and impressive Blast Silhouette. While the overall paint quality is quite good, there is a minor imperfection on the mask, though it is hardly noticeable to the naked eye. The beam cannons can be deployed forward while remaining attached to the arms. However, since no grip is included, the hands must be positioned close to create the illusion of holding them. A beam javelin is also included and is appropriately large for a premium figure.

The Core Splendor, used in the base form, can also be attached to the backs of both the Sword and Blast Impulse Gundams. Additionally, just like with the Strike Gundam set, each silhouette can be attached to #26 Eclipse Gundam.  

Summary

Displaying all three forms together provides an impressive visual, and considering that the Strike Gundam FULL WEAPON SET was priced at 3,600 yen for a single unit, the 5,390 yen price for three figures in this set feels like a reasonable deal.  

Impulse Gundam has never been released in the main FW GUNDAM CONVERGE series, making this Premium Bandai-exclusive set particularly unique. Unlike the Strike Gundam, where only the equipment changes, the Impulse Gundam changes body color with each silhouette, necessitating the inclusion of three separate figures. The silhouettes and weapons have more volume than regular releases, and the paint quality is noticeably high, making this a highly satisfying set.  

Given that SEED-related Converge figures are still relatively scarce, with even Freedom, Justice, and Destiny yet to be released in the # series, this set raises expectations for future lineups.
