Bandai Action Figure Gunpla Robot魂 Spirit＜SIDE MS＞ RGM-79SC GM Sniper Custom [Jaburo Defense Force Type] Ver. ANIME Review

This figure shares the same sculpt as the 2017 release of the GM Sniper Custom. The main difference is the new color scheme, reflecting the Jaburo Defense Force version seen in Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam.

Head & Visor

The head remains the same as the standard GM, with a sniper visor attachment.
The visor color has changed from orange to a teal blue, making for a noticeable difference.
The top part of the visor remains movable, allowing it to be raised and lowered securely without issues.

Body & Color Changes

The torso retains the same sculpt but now features a sharper teal-blue color compared to the more muted tones of the original release.

The waist, arms, and legs remain unchanged in design. The right arm still features the saber unit attachment. The backpack thrusters and lower waist armor remain articulated.

Weapons & Accessories

Sniping Beam Rifle

This version comes with a sniper rifle instead of the original’s long-range rifle. The rifle can be mounted on the lower back using a joint. It can also convert into a standard beam rifle by swapping parts, and the foregrip is movable.

Hyper Bazooka

The same model used by the Gundam, featuring a movable grip mechanism. Can be mounted on the lower back via a joint.

Shield

Can be held using either the grip or a joint attachment. Features storage space on the back for a Beam Spray Gun.

Beam Spray Guns (Standard & Dual-Wield)

Includes a standard Beam Spray Gun and a dual-barrel version. Both can be mounted on the lower back or legs using joints.

Foldable Hand Beam Gun

Retains the same folding mechanism as the original release. Can be mounted on the waist or legs using interchangeable parts.

Effect Parts

Includes beam effects for all ranged weapons. Thruster effects (straight and angled) are included for added posing variety. Beam saber blades (straight and curved) can be attached to the right-arm saber unit.

Comparison with the Standard GM Sniper Custom

The only differences are the color scheme and the main weapon swap. The articulation and sculpt remain identical to the 2017 release.

Poseability & Action Shots

Sniping Pose: Articulation remains excellent, making it easy to achieve kneeling and aiming stances. Hyper Bazooka Pose: No changes from the standard release. Weapon Conversion: The sniper rifle can be reassembled into a standard beam rifle.

Close Combat: The waist and neck articulation allow for dynamic melee combat stances.

Summary

This Jaburo Defense Force version is essentially a recolor with a different rifle, but given how solid the original GM Sniper Custom was, it still holds up well today. The large number of weapons and effect parts make it highly versatile, and there are no major drawbacks.

Looking ahead, the next release in the MSV series from Zeta Gundam, the Act Zaku (Augusta Research Institute Ver.), has already been announced, which is exciting news for collectors.
