The HG 1/144 Xi Gundam: Icarus Unit-equipped , masterfully customized by the Gunpla builder @le_creuset3, stands as an exemplary model of unique modification and intricate detailing.

The Icarus Unit-equipped Xi Gundam is an original custom concept depicting a prototype training machine sent from Anaheim Electronics to Mafty. It is equipped with an Icarus Unit and Shelf Nozzles, combining a nuclear thermal rocket engine with plasma jet engines to achieve high-speed atmospheric flight comparable to the Minovsky Craft system.

The Shelf Nozzles were created using the large booster units from Gundam Harute. Integrating the Icarus Unit onto the Xi Gundam proved challenging, but the result gives the mobile suit a distinctive flight-oriented silhouette while maintaining its recognizable design.

The main body was painted in a Mass-Produced Nu Gundam-inspired color scheme, while the Icarus Unit received a gray finish based on the Alyzeus. The build was inspired by the world of Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway, particularly the idea of Hathaway training with this prototype before piloting the Xi Gundam.
