The MG 1/100 MBF-P0XD Gundam Astray Noir D, masterfully customized by the Gunpla builder @s_shifty, stands as an exemplary model of unique modification and intricate detailing.
The Astray Noir D has been completed, built with a focus on refined detailing and deep panel engraving to embody a bold, dramatic aesthetic that fully embraces its dark, “chūnibyō” flair.
The base kit is the MG Red Frame, with parts incorporated from the Blue Frame and Hi-Resolution Noir, while the Destiny R Silhouette comes from the Impulse Blanche. The result is a striking custom machine with balanced asymmetry and layered visual weight.
In the front and rear configurations, the waist-mounted Sword Pistols give the model an especially powerful stance. The Destiny R Silhouette, painted in a rich red gradient, follows a detailed layering process — under black → super duralumin → clear red → semi-gloss clear — achieving a deep, metallic sheen.
With wings deployed, the silhouette expands dramatically, enhancing the model’s dynamic presence. The Sword Pistols, borrowed from the Hi-Resolution Noir, feature sharpened edges and a defined yokote line on the blades, giving them a true katana-like character.
As always, special care was given to the face sculpt, ensuring that the Astray looks sharp and expressive from every angle.
This customized Astray Noir D will be exhibited at NEXPO on September 15, showcasing its craftsmanship and distinctive style.
