The HG 1/144 Guncannon: Ground Combat Equipment, masterfully customized by the Gunpla builder @4039, stands as an exemplary model of unique modification and intricate detailing.

This project features the HGUC Revive Guncannon, finished in a darker blue color scheme after some consideration. The kit was built cleanly with seam line removal on the shoulders, backpack, head, and knee joints. Only the shoulders required post-assembly modification, and the overall design made this process straightforward. The simple structure, wide range of motion, and solid proportions make this an easy and satisfying kit to work with, even straight out of the box.

The head antenna was replaced with brass wire to improve sharpness and overall impression, as the original plastic part prioritized safety and durability over finesse. With proper priming, the brass replacement blends well with standard plastic paints and adds a noticeable upgrade.

The build assumes a ground-combat deployment. For this reason, beam weapons—considered unreliable and maintenance-heavy at a prototype stage—were avoided in favor of conventional projectile weapons. The loadout emphasizes reliability and ease of upkeep, while a shield was added to improve survivability in ground-based, two-dimensional combat scenarios, accepting a modest loss in mobility.

Weapons and shield parts were sourced from an older HG Ground Type GM kit, including a 100mm machine gun, rocket launcher, missile launcher, and shield. Despite their age, the parts featured solid sculpting and were integrated effectively. Magnets were embedded to allow the machine gun to mount on the rear waist armor and to enable detachable shield mounting on the left forearm.

A beam rifle was also included using parts from an older HGUC Guncannon kit due to missing components in the acquired base kit. Minor modifications were made, and the hands were replaced with builder’s parts for better handling.

Overall, the HGUC Revive Guncannon stands out as a well-balanced, highly accessible kit. Its articulation, proportions, and tolerance for painted finishes make it an excellent example of a classic supporting protagonist mobile suit. The fact that it remains relatively easy to find at retail further adds to its appeal, especially in a market dominated by main-character, one-off machines. The Guncannon’s multiple-unit production setting also leaves room for creative interpretation without contradicting official lore, making it a rewarding subject for grounded, story-driven builds.
