The HG 1/144 Xavier's Gyan: Custom, masterfully customized by the Gunpla builder @hachis_GunpLabo, stands as an exemplary model of unique modification and intricate detailing.

This is a fully painted build of the Xavier's Custom Gyan. No proportion changes were made. Instead, the focus was placed on replacing the kit’s gold line stickers with precise painted detailing.

The gold lines, originally provided as stickers, were carefully redefined. On the thighs, the sticker shapes were used as guides for scribing panel lines. On the shoulders, chest, arms, waist, and shield, stepped recesses were carved using chisels to create clean, recessed gold channels. Additional panel lines were added across the body to increase surface detail.

Masking proved to be the most demanding part of the project. Besides the gold sections, several other areas required complex color separation. For the recessed lines, widths of 0.5 mm and 0.7 mm were used. After experimenting with small masking strips, the builder switched to long, thinly cut masking tape, which adhered more cleanly to curved surfaces and improved precision.

The mono-eye was enhanced using decorative tape and finished with UV resin to create a reflective lens effect.

The backpack and thigh verniers were originally specified in gold. To avoid overpowering the design, a subtler metallic tone—Gaia Notes Champagne Gold—was selected. This restrained choice preserved the visual impact of the main gold lines while maintaining balance.

The large lance “Hakuj” is the visual centerpiece of the kit. It is properly hand-held, which enhances display stability. While gold decals were considered, restraint was exercised to prevent an overly flashy finish.

Despite the challenges in masking and color separation, the final result achieves a refined and cohesive appearance, with sharply defined gold accents and increased surface depth.
