The HG 1/144 Gundam X, masterfully customized by the Gunpla builder @Junius86017245, stands as an exemplary model of unique modification and intricate detailing.

This custom build of the GM Sniper Custom is a mix of the old MSV kit and an HG kit, showcasing a heavily tuned mobile suit designed to stand alongside the RX-78. The project emphasizes both performance and visual detail, reflecting a high-mobility, heavily armed escort unit concept.

The rear view highlights a large-output rocket backpack and additional thrusters mounted on the legs, enhancing mobility. The upper body features a visor-enhanced main camera, a box-type beam saber unit mounted on the left arm, and a mid-range beam rifle optimized for high-speed combat. The lower body includes a supplementary cooling unit at the waist, added armor across multiple sections, and beam spray guns attached to both calves.

The build incorporates various MSV parts, including the head visor, waist front armor, lower legs, ankle guards, backpack, beam saber box, and beam rifle. Two shoulder variants were created, with the showcased version focusing on a simpler design. Panel lining, added molds, and plastic plate details further enhance the overall mechanical look, with the chest duct area standing out as a highlight.

Painting was done using Gundam markers, including MSV Dark Green, Dark Gray, White, Silver, and Gray, applied through a marker airbrush system. The color scheme slightly deviates from the original for a more personalized finish. Decal application proved challenging due to aging water-slide decals, with only a partially salvaged “No.92” marking successfully applied.

Additional modifications include an adjustable backpack with repositionable thrusters, a detailed and extended rifle with added scope parts, and a magnet-based storage system allowing it to be separated and mounted at the waist. The head visor is movable, while the antenna was removed for practicality.

The legs retain the bulky proportions of the old MSV kit to emphasize a rugged, heavy-duty ace unit image, while HG parts were integrated through joint modifications. This was the builder’s first attempt at such structural adjustments, completed successfully.

Finished with panel lining and a matte top coat, the result is a solid and characterful interpretation of the GM Sniper Custom, blending classic MSV aesthetics with modern HG refinement.
