P-Bandai Gunpla HG 1/144 ARZ-154BZII Gundam TR-6 [Barzam II] ReZeon Captured Version [AOZ RE-BOOT Ver.] Review
From the HGUC AOZ series comes the new Gundam TR-6 [Barzam II] ReZeon Capture Version, now available as a model kit. Priced at 5,280 yen, this kit offers substantial volume. The packaging is the usual monochrome style, with a simple instruction manual that lacks detailed explanations about the mobile suit.
Included Accessories
The kit includes a beam rifle, grenade launcher, Eleanor Satellite Link System activated head, hover unit deployment parts, sub-arm unit extension parts, and saber blades.
Stickers and Markings
The kit also comes with stickers, including foil stickers for various sensors and ducts, as well as marking stickers printed with the ReZeon emblem.
Excess Parts
This kit contains a large number of surplus parts. It combines the HGUC Woundwort and HGUC Barzam (AOZ) kits with additional new parts. While the composite shield booster from the Woundwort is omitted, the rest of its parts are included, resulting in a significant number of leftover pieces.
Barzam Surplus Parts
The Barzam parts include the head, torso, and the area around the thighs, which are almost entirely surplus. Although the mono-eye part is missing, all other parts are present, leading to a considerable amount of excess.
Kit Design and Construction
Based on the A.O.Z RE-BOOT Gundam Inle - Kuro Usagi no Mita Yume, the ARZ-154BZII [Barzam II] is now available as an HGUC model kit. This mobile suit attaches Barzam's limbs to the core TR-6 Woundwort, with the kit comprising a combination of the HGUC Woundwort and HGUC Barzam (AOZ) along with new parts. The color scheme is red, in line with the ReZeon specifications, and the head features a massive blade antenna that extends widely when the Eleanor Satellite Link System is activated. The legs also feature hover units similar to the Barzam (ReZeon Capture Version).
Build Quality and Joints
The kit retains many of the original parts from both the Woundwort and Barzam, including their joint structures. However, areas around the chest and drum frame have been reinforced to support the heavy limbs, simplifying the movement and enhancing stability. The kit uses KPS and PC-001 for the joints, with no ABS components used.
Satellite Link System Activation
The head can be swapped out entirely to recreate the antenna in its open state when the Eleanor Satellite Link System is activated. The kit's color separation is well executed, though some details like ducts and sensors require stickers or painting for full accuracy.
Head Design and Features
The head is an adaptation of the Woundwort’s face, fitted with a large blade antenna in the Barzam style. When the Eleanor Satellite Link System is activated, the antenna opens into a V-shape, giving it a silhouette reminiscent of traditional Gundam designs. The Vulcan cannon and other parts are sharply molded.
Torso and Structure
The torso has a complex design with precise color separation, and the V-shaped crotch area is made of separate parts for added detail. The back of the torso features a boost pod with joint holes and the rear armor from the Barzam.
Arm Unit Details
The arm units are fixed for stability, with the drum frame around the hips also being nearly fixed to increase strength. The arms retain the same structure as the Barzam, with some BJ joints allowing for detailed movement.
Leg Structure
The legs follow the familiar method of folding the Woundwort’s legs and attaching the Barzam’s lower legs below the knees. The connection method remains unchanged from the Woundwort. Most of the leg's sections are color-separated, though the duct interiors require stickers or paint.
Comparison with Previous Models
When compared to the HGUC Barzam (AOZ) and HGUC Woundwort, the core Woundwort with attached limbs results in a significantly larger model. The new parts create a cleaner look around the chest, and the antenna on the head contributes to a silhouette closer to that of the Barzam.
Weaponry and Hover Unit
The kit includes a beam rifle and grenade launcher, with the latter capable of being attached to the arm. The hover unit is connected by an arm, but the long legs combined with the 3mm joint-based hip connection make it slightly unstable.
Summary
The HGUC Gundam TR-6 [Barzam II] ReZeon Capture Version is a well-thought-out kit with an impressive array of features. Although there are some stability issues with the lower body, the upper body is more manageable compared to the original Woundwort. The missile launcher adds a fun element to the build, and the ability to swap parts with other models allows for customization and experimentation. Despite some minor challenges, this kit offers a satisfying build and a unique take on the Barzam II design.
