Daban 6654 MG 1/100 FA-78 Full Armor Gundam (Thunderbolt Ver.) Review
Snapfit
The combination of things is basically have no problems, except for the tight parts of the backpack. The white parts are the best, and the details are very clear, not very fleshy, red and dark blue parts It is relatively worse, mainly because the surface of the part is dirty, and there are more scratches, and the sensory look will be worse than that of the white part. Everything is basically restored, with a lot of structure, joints, movable, and other.
Be careful in combining the C22 and C14 parts that go to the backpack. Because these two parts are too tight so they need a little repair. Both of these parts have a hinge part for the backpack so that it can be rotated later. If it is too hard, it will break the part.
Material
As for the material of the dust cover (plastic cover), it is not clear how the original version is, but the Daban Model produced is basically not bad, and the toughness is good. After playing and poseing it, there is have no plastic peg or armor being pulled through and broken.
This MG Daban 6654 has color separation between its white armor. One of them uses pure white and the other uses a little blue. There are a few concave circles on the helmet head. Maybe this is a bad print defect with poor Quality Control. Overall, each part is quite neat, and the details and panel lines are quite clear.
After installation, the effect will still look good, but remember that you should follow the instructions in the manual when installing, such as when setting the joints. Be sure to bend all the joints in place before cutting, and try to reserve a little bit to avoid excessive cutting and insufficient length.
Movability and Articulation
The original shoulder joint part is easy to break due to structural problems. This is currently not found. As long as you twist along the joints, the problem is not big. I don’t know if the original version happened. The joint side skirts are loose which will cause them to fall off a lot. A little cement on the male peg is recommended so that it doesn't come off easily.
Whether the problem of joint fracture is related to improper play, it can only be said that no such problem has been found in the current Daban Model product. And the overall joint tightness is good, there is basically no loose place, so it is very stable when standing and playing.
The original stand base cannot support such a large model well, so you need to change it to another more capable stand base.
Summary
The overall performance is quite satisfactory. The normal performance of the manufacturer, and the price around of USD 20 is indeed more cost-effective than the original version is more than USD 55.
