P-Bandai Gunpla MG 1/100 XXXG-01H Gundam Heavyarms [ Igel Unit Armament ] Review
The Gundam Heavyarms EW [Igel Unit Armament], released by Master Grade, is a pre-order item from Premium Bandai.
Accessories and Components
The kit includes various accessories such as a beam gatling, army knife, shield, a Trois figure, an open hand, two types of handles, hidden saber parts, and a stand joint. To enhance the visual appeal, both foil stickers and water slide decals are provided for detailing the eyes and other parts.
Surplus parts from the normal specification missile pod parts are also included. All parts of the normal version are included, which allows assembly as a standard version without the Igel Unit. Previously, Shenron equipped with Tawyer equipment was released, but this kit focuses on the Igel Unit equipment from Gundam Heavyarms.
Design and Structure
The kit is based on the previously released Gundam Heavyarms EW. The main difference lies in the additional units, while the main body remains the same. The structure of the joints is unchanged, and the proportions of the main body are consistent, though the additional equipment adds bulk, with the endless track being a unique feature. Standard weapons such as the army knife and shield are also compatible.
The color scheme of the aircraft is almost true to the molded color like MG, with a sharply detailed head, clear parts for the sensor and twin eyes, color-coded cheeks, and a sharply defined antenna. The cockpit hatch on the chest opens and closes, and the Gatling hatch can be expanded without replacement. The model boasts a high level of density and precision in its make.
A standing pose figure of Trowa is still included. The backpack has a movable mount frame, allowing the Gatling to be attached. While the missile hatch on the shoulder can be expanded, the rear hatch cannot due to the Igel Unit equipment. The shoulder's weapon container is connected by attaching frame parts.
Additional Features and Articulation
The missile hatch is deployed on the waist, as shown in the image, and there are lining parts on the back of the armor, typical of MG's completeness. The legs feature endless tracks and additional missile pods on both sides. The endless track attached to the ankle armor part is fixed and does not rotate. It extends backwards when unfolded, with each connection joint allowing for rotation and swing. The toes of the ankles are movable, enhancing the poseability.
Weaponry and Poses
The beam gatling is detailed with movable foregrips and open muzzles. The bullet feeding belt, attached to the lead wire one frame at a time, is flexible, and the tank part has seams. Despite being a large weapon, it is designed to be held firmly with one hand, or with both hands using the foregrip. The tracks follow the movement of the legs, providing support and allowing for a wide range of poses. The shield and army knives can be attached to the arm joints. Opening all hatches and firing all missiles makes for an impressive display.
Comparison
The impact of the additional equipment is significant, mainly involving the shoulders, missile pods, and endless tracks. Comparing the normal version with Gundam Heavyarms Kai, it's apparent that the molding color is similar, but the Igel Unit's version stands out with its voluminous weaponry.
Summary
The MG Gundam Heavyarms EW (Igel Unit equipment) is an impressive kit. Based on the Gundam Heavyarms EW, it brings in the Igel Unit equipment, characterized by containers and endless tracks. The transformation from a large-volume Gundam Heavyarms to a heavily armed MS is striking, especially when the hatches are open. The endless track is a particularly interesting addition, offering support and a wider range of poses. The additional weapons are well-crafted, making this kit a recommended purchase even for those who own the normal version.
