The HG 1/144 Barbatos: 12th Form, masterfully customized by the Gunpla builder @T_GUNPLA_kaizou, stands as an exemplary model of unique modification and intricate detailing.

This project combines three enhanced Barbatos units

HG Amazing Barbatos Lupus
HG Barbatos Lupus Rex
HG Barbataurus

The concept was built around imagining how Barbatos could be further upgraded if its enhancements were taken to the next level. Instead of evolving into Lupus Rex (a world where it didn’t assimilate Hashmal), this represents a hypothetical enhanced form of Lupus.

Features

Weapons: The current trend? Axes! This one was kitbashed from Barbataurus’ bow and Amazing’s weapon.
Glowing Eyes: Fluorescent paint makes the eyes glow under blacklight.
Amazing Booster: The legs were completely redesigned into larger ones for a more imposing presence.
Color Scheme: Anticipating the fusion, the Barbatos side leans blue, while the Hashmal side leans red to avoid overlap.

When combined, the model has four arms, inspired by Lupus Rex's signature arms and claws, but even further enhanced.

Customizations

Lead Wires: The included wires were too short, so replacements were sourced from a 100-yen shop—proving they truly have everything!
Finger Joints: The large hand’s finger joints were made movable using parts from Powered Arms Powereder.
Reinforced Joints: Brass rods were used across the joints, ensuring stability and self-support even with large weapons.
Extended Frame: The Gundam Frame was lengthened and various unique external features from each kit were carefully selected and integrated.

Painting Process

Most masking was done part by part. Metallic paints were used for the red and blue sections, creating a matte candy-like finish. This was a massive project, almost like building two models in one. From the lengthy modification process to the elaborate painting, it took a lot of time but was immensely enjoyable. Fully armed and ready for display. Thank you for staying through to the end! It was deeply fulfilling to bring this concept to life and achieve a personal goal.
